Will you get the vaccine as soon as available to you?

I had the same experience with moderna.
1st shot was given by a sweet female nurse - very little pain.
2nd shot was given by a cavalier male nurse - not a lot of pain but noticeably more than the first
(I’m assuming they were both nurses…maybe they were something else…I forgot to ask for credentials.)

Yep, first shot given by experienced nurse, second given by someone young enough to be my oldest kid. Didn’t feel first, second was definitely felt.

Nope, it will just be me & Mo. We’re vaccinated.

Could barely feel the first (I think by a nurse), second stung a lot more, again by what appeared to be an experienced nurse.

I had the same thing. First one could have missed it if I wasn’t looking, second one was definitely a pinch and a tetanus like burn going in.

Everyone else in the post-shot waiting area agreed. It was an ouch.

Since I didn’t watch and couldn’t feel the first shot, I was glad I had some side-effects so I knew I actually got the shot. But I definitely know I got the 2nd. So no thank you, side-effects. You’re not needed this time.

My first was a little painful going in. My second was painless, i barely felt it at all. Both were administered by female nurses ~50 years old, judging from how they looked.

I think some of it is just luck.

Neither jab hurt much to me. Got them from firemen who were volunteering at one of those larger vaccination sites.

I wonder if the temperature of the liquid is a key in this pain thing.

I didn’t feel the first shot at all. Second hurt a tiny bit.

When it comes to the injection, keep in mind that the needle goes by various blood vessels inside the skin.

The closer the needle gets to the blood vessel, the more burn you usually feel. If they hit a minor blood vessel, then it really hurts.

Usually, a skilled nurse will know were to inject in the arm to minimise this problem.

My COVID jab was painless. Honestly I wasn’t even certain she’d done it (although the side effects later helped verify).

In contrast, my most recent flu vaccine was the worst I’ve ever had. Most of the time I don’t even feel the flu vaccine or an occasional pinch, this past one was genuinely painful.

The guy who administered it looked younger than me though so I became highly suspicious of his competency.

Saw this from Andy Slavitt. Looks like vaccines have increased recently

You’ll get used to this.

you must be relatively young yourself if this pings your radar as anything noteworthy.

I’m 30, so any medical professionals younger than me are suspiciously too young

okay yes, that counts as relatively young.

A looooot of people have been authorized to administer this vaccine. Some states are even allowing nursing students to do it. Do you could have someone 18 years old doing it, even.

in that case, i hope the person who did mine even did it right. i assume it’s not a difficult process.

That’s fair yeah, this was pre-COVID with a flu vaccine though so I still had high standards
