What do you do with all those jars of pickles and beets? Do you sell them, give them as gifts, or do you have a really big family? Enquiring minds wanna know.
I give them away. A few to the folks whose land we hunt on, most of the rest for family. I never have enough, we always run out.
I used to give some to the neighbours too but have cut back on that last year or so. I wouldn’t have enough for me if I keep doing that.
I still do give away a lot of stuff to the neighbours, just not as many pickles. When I harvest from the garden I normally take a walk around to the closest half dozen houses and drop some off.
had that once in the Frankfurt, Germany airport
All through her childhood, I tried to get my daughter to go to Veggie Fest (partly as a joke, as I knew she would scoff at it), an annual thing close to us that is pretty much what you might expect from the name. And, yes, she always scoffed and refused. They closed it down for Covid and this weekend was the first reinstatement. Imagine my surprise when she sent me a “We should go!” text. The food court there had vegetarian versions of pretty much all the things you’d expect at a non-veggie-fest, and then some. It was a bit on the expensive side, and we spent a lot because we both over-ate. I had two dosas (the two was by accident, but there they were, so…), much of a samosa platter, and beignets. Pretty good for fair food. The beignets were a little disappointing, but the rest was pretty good. A reggae band was playing right by the food, which also was nice. We agreed that it is on the list for next year.
I’d rather have pretty good for fair food than pretty fair for good food.
There’s a Jamaican restaurant near my office that has the same bot.
Broccoli stir fry with couscous
Gouda bacon egg bites from Costco. I couldn’t find the Starbucks brand the last time I went, only Kirkland, but they taste pretty much the same to me.
Subway FLBOGO
Consecutive conference calls, so I ate half a leftover hamburger patty.
Ditto
A muffuletta from the local Cajun place. Tasty.
Small amounts of many things from hot bar at Whole Foods. There was an Indian-ish theme. They had mini samosas that were better than expected.
Meatball sandwich
I had brupper today. Got out of the house later than planned, and took a long walk to a Mediterranean place with the dog hoping to eat on the patio. Unfortunately they weren’t doing patio service today, which was odd as it was nice and lots of people were out and about in the area. Walked towards home, and by that point it was after 2pm and I was really hungry. That meatball sub was huge, but I scarfed the whole thing. It will likely be the only thing I eat today as I’m still feeling full.
Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich
Some pho woulda been nice tooooooo!!!
Tacos and leftover cake.
