What % of women in the US dye their hair?

Wow, $300 is a lot. Mine is $55 tip included. And since I’ve been wearing my hair longer I can go 6-8 weeks between. My hair grows ridiculously fast—not even my thyroid prevents this. So short styles mean getting to the salon every 4-5 weeks.

Hubby is now getting his beard trimmed regularly and it’s affecting my salon budget.

If I wanted to color it would be about $150 + tip for cut and color and I would have to go every 5-6 weeks to get the roots done. My hair takes 2 boxes.

My daughter does her own color and she also has a ton of hair. She goes to the salon maybe once a year. I’d guess she spends $300/year on her hair.

the article says this:

" 1. Now for some cultural statistics: 90% of Japanese people wash their hair twice a day, 80% of North Americans wash their hair twice a day, and only 25% of the European population washes their hair daily. Do you think we should wash our hair every day?"

there is no way that’s true. who the hell washes their hair twice a day? 80% sounds wrong. even 5% sounds wrong. this makes me think that entire article is garbage.

oh that $300 includes tip, but ya a lot.

i suppose i can go to supercuts or some shitty place for less, but then i will probably hate the cut.

I wash my hair twice a week. More if I’m working out or swimming. My hair just looks better if it keeps those natural oils. I also don’t use a ton of product.

Yeah, no way the typical american washes their hair twice a day. Some do of course pre work and post workout, but that’s a minority.

I wash my hair like twice a week.

yeah, i think it’s pretty unhealthy for hair to wash it twice a day. it would dry out.

Back when I was commuting to work I would wash my hair in the morning and then in the evening after a workout. But I don’t have that much hair to wash.

The Euros are quite fashionable so maybe it is best not to wash hair every day.

that article is wrong about north americans, so i’m guessing it’s wrong about europeans too.

Does it mention Antarcticans? Tough to be wrong about those people.

I’ve done it before, but I can’t even wash my hair daily or it dries out. 4-5x a week max.

But on a Sunday I might wash it before church and then go swimming in the afternoon and then wash it again at night. Not all the time though.

My mother dyed her hair for decades, then after chemo she let it go grey. Got lots of compliments from friends and family.

I’d never trust compliments from friends and family after chemo

Enough time had passed after chemo that the hair had grown back. I highly doubt that anyone had complimented her when she was wearing a wig or do-rag.

I complimented my friend’s scarf when she lost her hair to chemo. It looked cute. And… not a lot else about her looked cute, and she needed a pick-me-up. The chemo was horrible, and made her look fat and soft and lumpy. One of the chemo nurse’s saw her wedding photo, taken a week before she started chemo, and blurted out, “you used to be pretty”.

But I never give fake compliments, the scarf was legit cute, and looked really good with her face.

I’m 50 and have virtually no grey hair at all (and I keep my hair short). My wife says there is a tiny patch on the back of my head but it takes time for her to find it. The old ladies at the bridge tournament usually think I’m 35.

Interesting bump. I see a previous post with a cannabis link.

When my daughters were in their early teens they wanted to color their hair. I warned them—you don’t want to dye young.
