She is great. there are times I can totally hear her within her Despicable Me 2 role w the delivery.
Finished Silo last night.
Canāt wait for season 2!!
Bought the books to see what was next. I read very slowly, so I may still be reading them when season 2 hits.
The Diplomat was also excellent.
I watched the first episode of Three Body (not the Netfix version) just to see how it is. Iām not drawn in yet and probably would never be drawn in if I hadnāt read the books. Episode 1 is just enough to get you confused without have read it, I"d think. It isnāt very linear (I suppose this is based on the Chinese version of the book and not the English version, which re-ordered the start) and repeats some stuff, so it feel very stylized. Iāll watch some more.
it gets more enticing when you get to the āgamesā
Iād be interested to hear what you think if you end up watching both versions.
Iām 3 of 8 eps in. I will finish. But the story is rather disconnected. A dozen weird things are happening, and thereās not yet a hint of why/how they are connected.
Videogames from the future? You got em
The stars in the sky start to blink on and off. Yup them too.
Scientists committing suicide because they get a random timer in their heads. Yup, and all theseā¦
Every supercollider in the world starts giving anomalous indications.
Time travel.
Aliens (who naturally speak english and mandarin)
Anticommunism.
Potato chip magnate.
People who know about science but love to smoke cigarettes.
Keiko from Star Trek and at least 3 THREE! G.O.T. actors that I have recognized so far (Ser Davos, Sam Tarley and the high septon dude.)
I hope it all comes together soon.
Based on youtube comments, the novel seems way more convoluted and deep than the show. Iām almost inclined to pick it up for a good read (though I havenāt read any books since college. Iām very ADHD when it comes to books).
Deep Purple pretty much summed up my feeling. I wonder if the book series is worth reading with a rewatch of the series.
I didnāt dislike the Netflix series, but I didnāt love it either. There were definitely some interesting themes though.
The three book series is ABSOLUTELY worth reading, IMO, independent of the show (which I have yet to watch). It sounds like the series takes a while to get into, which was true for me for the first book. But by the end of 3BP, I was totally hooked, and books 2 and 3 really ramp up.
Have been feeling a bit nostalgic so have been bingeing on āThe OCā.
This was a very popular series back when I was in the US (early 00s).
Really?
Oh my.
Anywho, I am rewatching one last time the whole āArcherā series. Very funny, tons of obscure references and call-backs to prior shows and spoofing of spy movies and shows.
Finished my 3 Body Binge
It did come together, I guess.
Spoilers within:
Ok, the whole alien invasion thing is coming, and everyone is freaking out, and somehow the aliens can watch and F with us during their 400 year road trip.
The whole āWillās Brainā thing was interesting and the most touching part of the show, even moreso that Dr Yeās inner turmoil. Did anyone get the feeling that they implied that Dr Ye killed her own daughter for not going on with the program?
But Ser Davos (Wade)is the best character in the show, IMO. I think the one week per year plan is hilarious.
I donāt think the video gameās purpose has been fully explained. Is it more than a recruitment tool for the Anti-Human coalition? If so, why did Tatiana get one, as sheās already in the program?
Not a spoiler. I could not recall every seeing the actress (Eiza Gonzales) before, but I looked her up and found out she played Jon Hammās girlfriend in Baby Driver.
I think itās more to identify the scientists and kill off the ones who would threaten the aliensā existence when they arrive (pass the game + disagree with the aliensā conclusion). The ones who pass the game and agree with the aliens (aka become a disciple) get to live. And people who are too dumb to undertand anything get to live too since they pose 0 threat)
OK, but why did Tatiana get one?
I like the guy who is effectively Saulās assistant (not the security guy, the other one) THe actor is the guy who play Big Head on Silicon Valley. And it took me a couple of scenes to realize he was going a ā{wink}{wink}{nudge}{nudge} OF COURSE youāre not a wallfacer. Now how can I help you Mr. Wallfacer?ā
Also, the worst choice for a wallfacer would be a guy who has written books about military strategy. As Patton proved when he faced Rommel on the battlefield, having read the books Rommel had previously published meant Rommelās strategies were not going to be successful.
Yes, SO many things to watch on Apple TV. I will subscribe ⦠some day ⦠after I run out of stuff to watch on Netflix and Amazon.
Not having read the books, i imagine tatiana got one because the previous human lead was killed and they wanted a new one.
My London daughter has been visiting so we watched some old episodes of Goosebumps. My daughter starred in an episode during her pre-teen acting career so my grandkids get a kick out of seeing their auntie when she was a 12 year old.
What episode did she star in?
She played the popular but mean blonde girl in Be Careful What You Wish For. She was a very sweet child so had to act out of character for the role.
30 years later she still gets small residual checks for her role. It was a good gig for her.
