United States Congressional & Gubernatorial 2022 elections

Whats crazy is that a lot of people believe democrats lie and people believe them, republicans try to explain the lie to them and democratics tell them that Fox News is lying to them even if they didn’t get any of their information from there

Huh, Savannah Morning News called this claim “feasible” and Yahoo reprinted it, ultimately saying it was partially false, presumably on the basis of the uncertainty.

I assumed that he meant 70% of the drugs in Atlanta crossed the border from Mexico, not the other way around. Maybe he meant it as he stated it though.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about the partisan slant of Savannah Morning News.

I agree there exist a lot of people as you describe.

Fox news is the visible symbol of right wing media. When i turn on conservative talk news, i often hear Sean Hannity. I assume he probably reaches more Americans on the radio than on cable TV. I hear the same lies on his radio show as the TV show. People are kidding themselves if they think they aren’t being fed lies of they just avoid fox news, but consume other sources of conservative media.

Talk radio doesn’t usually get posted on social media. Fox news will. With the same message.

There is a lot of overlap between the education divide in America and the political divide. One party tries to dismantle public education. The same party that captures the majority of the non college educated white vote. Let’s think of why they might be motivated to fight for things like school vouchers so they can spend more time on religion in school. They make the electorate more easy to manipulate. At the same time they claim liberal colleges are brainwashing kids and doing the manipulation. Somehow the outcome of broader experiences and a system that progressively favors more intelligent people is that they are more brainwashed. Ok…

30 years ago Republicans captured a lot of this demographic by running on a platform of actual fiscal conservatism and a pledge of lower taxes. Then fox news came along, Limbaugh made millions, Gingrich became a leader for the Republicans. The grift began, and since then it has progressively become more about identity bs politics and owning the liberals because that led to fortune and power, not actual good governance.

Perhaps you have a better story to tell, but it’s hard to see how the constant erosion of education only makes the grift bigger and easier.

Well, it’s hard to see, if you’re an idiot.
But I think you Bidened that sentence.

I think he meant exactly what he said. I’m not supporting his comments, just the “feasibility of the accuracy”. I think he meant that he believe that 70% of the drugs that come accross the border, pass through Atlanta on their way north and east.

Yeah, I think you are correct, that he did mean it exactly as he stated it, and it’s surprising to me that the figure is considered plausible. I suppose if drugs crossed the Mexican border and were headed to New England or Mid-Atlantic states or the Carolinas or most of Georgia then they’d pass through Atlanta. But that leaves a lot of the country… seems like way more than 30%.

Rick Scott is swinging for the fences and predicting 55 R seats in the next US Senate.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-energy-is-on-our-side-rick-scott-says-republicans-could-have-up-to-55-senate-seats

Scott got his start by committing the greatest medicare fraud in history. A good pre-Trump example of Democracy failing. And obviously someone not to be trusted about anything.

I’m not interested in discussing Rick Scott’s ethics. And I know the reluctance of many posters to read/trust an article on The Daily Wire. However in this case, The Daily Wire is merely reporting on a speech from the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee chairman who believes Republicans could quite possibly end up with 55 seats in the Senate.

I know he’s a cheerleader for his side, as such, he’s going to make speeches accordingly. However I also have to think that he has access to decent internal polling results. This is the part I find interesting and discussion worthy.

Based on #'s recent post about the Predictit indicator price for the GA Senate and many other factors, articles, Rick Scott might be right.

I don’t doubt the 55R seats is a real possibility.

Medicare fraudster is cheerleading a best case scenario for Republicans. God help us all if he’s right.

I’m generally happy to ignore cheerleaders and salesmen. But frauds can go fuck themselves. It’s not a matter of morality, it’s a matter of trust. Their word is poison. If he were just a “bad guy” like a car thief or a spouse abuser it would be different, but it’s a problem when his crime is lying.

but how do you really feel???

Wow - you’re not holding anything back

Election polling has been pretty unreliable since at least 2016. It’s not really clear why, although the concept of “likely voters” seems strained now with things like mail-in ballots in some cases being sent to every registered voter.

Biden’s executive order 14019 is another potential source of disconnect. It ordered all federal agencies to submit plans to Biden’s domestic policy advisor (Susan Rice) to “promote voter registration and voter participation.” It also mandates the agencies work with approved 3rd party organizations to provide registration services on federal agency premises.

Legality of this EO aside, the Biden admin is being very secretive about it, and the DOJ has failed to respond to FOIA requests and requests from the House Committee on Oversight for details. I think the concern, besides constitutionality concerns, is that the agencies may be promoting registration/participation in a way they think will slant toward Democrat-leaning voters.

Congressional Republicans, ever-late in their challenges, sent a sternly-worded letter recently but I don’t see how there would be any action prior to the election. If something turns out to be amiss with the EO, even if it’s determined to be illegal, it will be too late as the election would have already occurred.

Anyway, whatever the true intent of Biden’s EO, it feels like another factor that could render polling inaccurate.

Again, it’s not about the severity, but the type of crime. (Not that fraud is minor.).

Eg. You could be violent but still be trustworthy.

Modest shift to R in the markets since I last looked. As noted just a few posts ago, GA is essentially 50-50. PA is now back to R (~55-45) but still a possibility for the Ds to pick up.

Current prediction
R: 51 (pick up NV)
D+I: 49 = 47+2

Best case scenario for Ds
R: 50 (pick up NV)
D+I: 50 = 48+2 (pick up PA)

Best case scenario for Rs:
R: 53 (pick up AZ, GA, NV, hold PA)
D+I: 47 = 45+2

I’m not going to tell anyone to vote against Republicans where I live. We have a good Republican Senator running in Indiana in Todd Young. I will probably vote for the Dem in our Congressional election here, but he won’t win. In Louisville the Democratic candidate should win, but if they don’t it’s going to be even worse than it looks for Democrats.

This article lays out the problem. Inflation, economy, and immigration. Dems have no message on any of these.
