yes, i heard that later it was learned that ventilators might be a bad approach. that might be why we didn’t fall short on ventilators in the end.
the childish bullshit, and trump trolling covid, mocking mask use, and screaming for states to open up and ignore it, and holding super spreader events thus spreading it gave me tons of anxiety that we were never getting out of this nightmare with him in charge. i’m a little calmer with an adult in charge now. still concerned about the virus mutating though, but at least the leader isn’t actively working to sabotage us like trump was.
The question I would like to know is how much the prior administration was involved in getting a vaccine in under a year. A lot of red tape was probably cut. If we are being honest with ourselves the businesses and companies producing the vaccine did most/if not all the work.
What did bother me is that the for the longest time the media was saying the vaccine would not be ready until April/May or even the summer.
I think you need to be very careful when listening to any media source. When you listen to these Cuomo press conferences I would suggest trying to ignore the charisma aspect from his words.
when your governor is having his daily press briefing while Trump is trolling him on twitter, how are New Yorkers supposed to feel about this? Are they supposed to have super duper confidence that Trump want to eradicate this virus? Trump would outright say that “cuomo better be nice to him” and he did threaten to hold back vaccines and ventilators if cuomo wasn’t nice. Not sure if he delivered well on the ventilators. I know that Trump pit states against each other in bidding wars against both each other and against the federal government for ventilators instead of having a coordinated federal approach.
the timeline is constantly changing on this. biden would give a conservative estimate. now it’s pushing forward. i think the media was just reporting what they heard from those in charge. i don’t think people actually knew the timeline to make it accurate. the J&J vaccine distribution now is a game changer though.
Yes Trump is a failure of a human being on almost every measure that I can think of. That’s why I don’t think saying “Person X is at least better than Trump” is the path we want to go on. IMO 99% of the people on Earth are better than Trump.
also forgot to add that trump called it a “blue state bailout and why should he do that?” to give covid relief to states. so ummmm, is that supposed to endear me to him? he wants my state to rot in covid hell.
yes, but hard to ignore when trump is still very relevant and his way of thinking is ruling the republican party right now. not sure most of the republican party is better than trump.
when trump was being awful, cuomo put a lot of peoples minds at ease with his press briefings. he wasn’t perfect and that’s coming out now, but at the time, he was a hero for many.
Trump was screaming for Gretchen Whitmer to open up her state, and then when Trump’s cult decided to attempt to kidnap and murder her due to his crazy tweets, he did not denounce them, and instead continued to scream for her to open up her state. Then he incited an insurrection at the capitol to kill all the democrats there. my god, he’s so awful and evil.
Yes, even flawed people can do heroic things. The trick is to hold them accountable for the flawed things they do, and not say, “but hero!”. I am not sure what the right answer is for Cuomo’s case. Is removal from office too steep a price? I wonder how any woman might feel about having to deal with him, especially in a meeting with no one else present . Maybe the Pence rule should be applied.
it’s hard for me to get on board with kicking him out of office when i continually go back to “but trump!!!” and “but kavanaugh!!!” with his sexual assault being far worse.
it’s not really but hero. it’s that the republicans have done so much worse and they get away with it. cuomo wouldn’t have been this hero if not for how bad trump was.
the sexual harassment allegations are really kinda meh in comparison to so many others. the lying about nursing home deaths, maybe bad, but everyone is so focused on the sexual harassment.
and that chick at the wedding? that is just insane to focus on. he was just a typical creep. there are so many men like that. get over it. the only reason that was likely even memorable for that chick was because he’s the governor. i’m sure she got creepy hit on before.
it came down to republicans vs dems and since the republicans had control over the senate, it didn’t matter what ACB said. i think they mostly voted on party lines as they always do.
not sure what you’re asking. what about him? pretty sure it was too late to prosecute him under a court of law for what he supposedly did 40 years ago.
Okay, so the Republicans have very low standards in their accepting of Trump.
Is there any benefit you get from lowering your standard for Cuomo?
Or maybe you just don’t think it’s all that bad? Trump and Kavanaugh aside, do you think Cuomo should lose his job for harassing these women (and/or fudging data)?
Logically speaking, I don’t think there’s a cost to having a much higher standard than Republicans. If we fire Cuomo I don’t think that weakens the Democratic brand or anything.
And emotionally speaking, I’m with DG, that if you let Trump become your bar for ethical behavior, then you might as well just kill yourself.
