Interesting settlements they’re making in WI. Thanks to the settlement, Biden has apparently now won the presidency? I’m so glad they were able to get the agreement from the 10 people who had absolutely no say in the process anyway.

The WI settlement pisses me off. My lawyer aunt assures me they’ve flipped and are being used for evidence, but the fact they tried to stage a coup and the result is “say you’re sorry, don’t do it again” is infuriating.

And apparently they can become state electors again as long as Trump isn’t running.

That’s particularly ridiculous.

Back in the olden days you’d be hanged, drawn and quartered!

Being completely serious, in post-Revolutionary days I could see this being charged as treason and result in execution.

I agree, I’ve thought that with a lot of this stuff. When did we stop calling treason, treason?

Reminds me a bit of that Parks and Rec season with the Jail guy…

“Faking electors? Treason. Sharing state secrets with a global adversary? Treason. Encouraging a mob of people to go after the VPOTUS, believe it or not, also treason.”

Back in 1788.

Article III, Section 3, Clause 1 : Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

Agree, the fake electors engaged in sedition rather than treason

Hmm, you are correct, the terms just come up so infrequently that I’m not as used to their proper definitions as, say, “assault” vs. “battery”.

It’s more accurately described as sedition. That’s why you hear “seditious conspiracy” used against the higher-level organizers of January 6, but it also applies to everyone who concocted the “fake electors” plan and very arguably applies to every Republican in Congress who was aware of that plan and participated in it.

I think “very arguably” should be removed above. If you knowingly participated in a plan to overturn the election you are part of the seditious conspiracy

Yeah yeah sedition not treason. But sometimes I think this is where Democrats struggle more than Republicans.

If roles were reversed you think Trump wouldn’t be shouting on rooftops how he’s running against a TRAITOR TO OUR GREAT UNITED STATES

One side wants to be accurate and will speak meekly trying to do that, the other wants to yell to be heard regardless of the truth.

Sometimes it’s better to be 80% accurate and heard than 100% accurate and shouted out by the guy who is 20% accurate

Agreed, but we’re talking about the Democratic Party here. They’re slowly getting better, but still spend way too much time obsessing about not being wrong and then being (incredibly) slow to respond to the masses on dumb shit Republicans say.

Time for some bubbly. Another one bites the dust.
