Yeah, I remember when I hit the age where my uncle died. I’m now 2 (almost 3) years older than he was when he died and in 2025 Mini Me will be the same age his daughter was when he died.
I’m sorry for your loss.

Today would have been his 74th birthday. RIP
My father in law passed away today. It’s also my husband’s birthday today, so that’s sad. I didn’t know him well; he and my husband weren’t especially close, but some of my other siblings in law were closer with him, and I feel sadness for the loss.
So sorry, NA.
My good friend was just laid off from her tech job. I have several acquaintances who work in tech or data science and all of them are currently unemployed. It’s scary.
I hope she finds another job sooner than later. She’s very smart.
We lost another co-worker today due to Cancer.
He was 50 with 3 kids.
I think I have mentioned this before in this thread (or maybe another one) but the amount of people 30-50 years of age that have been dying from cancer in my area (London - Financial Services) is really shocking.
That is sad.
Not to be flippant, but I am curious if the number is going up as you are older and just seeing it more among your group. Or if the rate of folks dying of cancer 30-50 is really on the rise from the past. I’m sure the stats are there but I’m to lazy to look.
Anyway, sorry for you loss and to his family.
FUCK Cancer
Son’s GF (British) is battling breast cancer. 30 years old. Beating it for now. Someone needs to look in to the water or the air there.
I probably noticed these issues less when in my 20s due to age of my circle of friends, but I have been noticing an uptick of cases going back 15 years or so. There has definitely been an increases in cases over here in the UK.
This article came out today, and from 1990 to 2019, the incidence of cancer in under 50s has gone up by about 79%, which is quite a scary increase in a short period of time.
Had an awesome vacation in the Galapagos, but while preparing to leave I got word that my cat was very sick. I wasn’t sure we’d make it back to see him. We landed in the wee hours this morning, and went to see him early this morning. He seemed to be on the mend earlier today, but just took another turn for the worse. Just went to see him again. We’ll try one more thing this evening/overnight, but if it doesn’t work we need to say goodbye tomorrow.
We have a boxelder bugs taking shelter in my office/sewing room for the winter (and interestingly, no stink bugs - wonder if they’re enemies or something), and they keep hiding out in my fabric. So I’m accidentally killing by ironing them to death, just burnsquished my third. What a bad way to go.
It really is sad, I hate killing even just bugs.
I would not feel bad about killing the bugs, but are their guts getting all over your quits? That I would be upset about!
, even though I don’t know what boxelder bugs are. For whatever reason, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen any stink bugs around here. (If that’s jinxes me, I’ll need to rant in Annoyed Thoughts)
No, although I’m worried about that for future slaughters, as they can spray an inky discharge when squished. One of them sprayed my ironing mat, but nothing on any fabric yet, fortunately. I think at least one was already dead and dried out by the time I got to him.
I’m having a very hard time right now
Our house just got rattled by a medium earthquake. Just a reminder that the big one could come any time.
The BIL with liver cancer got COVID while at home and fell and broke his nose. He processed through a couple hospitals until they moved him back to the SLC hospital where he had gone through his experimental treatments.
They treated him for the COVID and he developed pneumonia and was very disoriented. They were able to identify some additional infections that they began treating but he isn’t responding and they have withdrawn further treatments and he is expected to pass “within hours to days”.
Really sucks.
I’m really sorry, that is a lot.
OMG, that’s a lot for one person’s immune system to deal with. I’m so sorry.
My wife decided we needed to go visit the hospital one more time. Her sister was there with 3 of her 8 kids and 3 grand kids. She was able to have a good visit with the family and say her goodbyes to her brother in law.
This morning he passed away. A very sad situation but best for him and the family at this time.
