hillarious. he was impressed right up until he wasn’t.

i ran some 200’s yesterday and got a few under 40 seconds. for the set, I am about 2 seconds faster per 200 than I was 2 months ago. one of these times I will have to plan to go (what passes for) all out and see what I can really do.

So Saturday was my first day running without a mask on, hopefully I have gotten over my fear of dying from covid (maybe).

Just in time for the new variant!

I have been trying a new thing where I only breathe out of my nose now while running, it kind of makes me feel like a badass imo.

ran 4 x 400m with a 400m jog between. ran them in 80-82 seconds. they were noticeably downhill. but I felt great about the turnover!

got on the track today for 8x200m.

last week, I did downhill 400m repeats. felt great!

this week, it was 200m largely with a decent wind. very affirming! may all your timed efforts be with a tail wind!

times (in seconds - last one i actually stopped the watch, but 1-7 i just look as I cross the line) :37/36/37/36/36/37/36/35.6

Damn, that is movin’! How much rest are you taking between?

200m jog/walk. 400m after #4, was completing the lap in about 2:15 (with 37 of it moving and the rest less so)

And, on a much less pleasant note, I had entered a 5K Saturday. Had been doing fine the week before, and hadn’t run at all the preceding two days. Almost right away the hamstring in my right leg really started hurting, and I didn’t run at all after the first mile (alternating walking plus very short running up until then.) Was going to try a very little slow jogging today, but even that didn’t work at all. Fortunately walking seems ok, so I have walked at least 5 miles (in 2-3 mile segments) each day since.

Above was the last time I did a track workout. I think I need to do this once a week or slightly different, so today I repeated this workout. [Pretty close, I think some of the rests between rounds were slightly less.]

100: 0:22
200: 0:52
400: 1:57
200: 0:50

200: 0:54
400: 1:56

The last round, the last 100m of both the 400 and 200 were really tough.

been trying to get out and do one interval session a week. ends out being like every 10 days.

today was 1200/800/400. would have been happy with slower than what it was and was pretty happy with the consistency within and across.
433/300/87. rest was about 4min of jog&walk between them.

I’m considering putting my mask back on indoors because the dude I ran next to had breath that stank so bad I could barely get through my session.
