That’s a shocker. I assumed she had many years left in her.
I thought she was older than 80.
My husband said she’d been sick for a while and canceling some appearances, so he wasn’t shocked by the news. I guess you can’t be shocked when an 80 year old passes away, but I always thought of her as vibrant and full of life.
She did indeed seem like a good person and did a lot of good things in this world when she could have done nothing. She was an inspiration and I hope her legacy is not forgotten.

WNYC did a multipart podcast documentary about/around Dolly Parton’s role in America. I listened to it a few years ago and thought it was good.

She always seemed like one of the good ones. Watched 9 to 5 a few months ago and it still holds up pretty well today.

She’s also spent a ton of time setting up her music management for after she dies. I believe that she’s done a ton of stuff to let people reuse her music (under licensing), so we’ll be hearing from her for a long time.
Dolly went downhill after her husband died. What a dynamite songwriter, singer, and person. I continue to discover new music (to me) from her.

Damn, so sad. I recently rewatched Ken Burns’ country music doc, she is in it a fair bit. I never heard a bad word spoken about Dolly, she was a national treasure. RIP.

I believe you are confusing Nanette Fabray and Shelley Fabares. Two different actresses, and Nanette was at least 20 years older.
Nanette was the girls grandmother on ODAAT
Shelley was the Coach’s girlfriend on Coach (and also Mrs. Piccolo in the original Brian’s Song)
Shelly Fabares played Ann’s friend Francine and appeared in 38 episodes. Of course, she had many other roles as well.
