and i wouldn’t be all that surprised that a non-trump Rep supporter would go Dem over Palin or put no 2nd choice on purpose
Is Alaska using ranked choice in the general election, or was this just due to it being a special election?
Reading this, it looks like it may be for the General Election, but still not certain
It’s a good way to keep the main two parties accountable. You can vote for a third party candidate but your preference between the main two parties holds (for example, vote for Perot but your vote still goes to George bush senior or vote for Nader and your vote still goes to Gore).
If both main parties suck (which they do) they are at a much greater risk of the third party candidate getting in with ranked choice voting than first past the post.
I think the slate is already set for November. It will be the same 3 plus a libertarian candidate.
This is reason it has a hard time catching on. It is in neither party’s interest to weaken the 2-party system so both Dems and reps mostly work against ranked choice
All elections. I think is in your link:
What offices are elected using Ranked Choice Voting?
The bill includes President/Vice President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, Governor/Lieutenant Governor, and all state representatives and state senators. When is the first election the Ranked Choice Voting system will be used?
The August 16, 2022 Special General Election.
This special election just happened to be the first.
A trove of these here: Trump Attorney's Eye-Popping Claim On Live TV Sounds Like A Confession All of them include the shot from Fox News; I copied it only on the first.
I don’t see the news here.
She’s saying that when she’s been in his office, there haven’t been papers spread out like that. How is that incriminating?
She did not say that she has seen top secret documents on his desk, for example. She did not say that she has seen any classified documents anywhere in Trump’s office.
She says she has seen visitors in Trump’s office.
Even if she had said that she has seen a storage box in Trump’s office with top secret stuff in the box, at a time when there were no other visitors, that is not any worse than storage boxes in an unlocked storage room with top secret stuff. We already know the second happened, so her comment doesn’t seem to be adding any legal liability.
It seems like it’s adding a second case of Trump not securing the documents properly.
If they’re unlocked in his office and he has visitors in his office, that’s additional evidence of him mishandling the documents.
Perhaps an analogy would be that if you killed the babysitter and then we uncovered evidence that you also killed her boyfriend… that might not be super shocking, but it’s evidence that your crimes were even worse than we thought.
But, when I read the tiny quote in the tweet, she doesn’t say he had these documents in his office.
She says his office doesn’t have documents on the floor.
Of course, there were documents in his office: Read: Judge releases list of items FBI seized from Trump in Mar-a-Lago search : NPR
I’m just saying I don’t see how she said anything that makes it worse for Trump.
The new information is that Trump had visitors in his office while simultaneously storing top secret documents there in an unsecured fashion.
I can’t imagine that those doing the search didn’t take photos of documents in their original locations, as well.
Kind of agree.
We do not know where these documents came from in his office. Were these in a safe?
I agree that what she is saying is unimportant.
Maybe they did and we’re just not seeing those.
The ones found in his office were in his desk, in the same drawer as his passports.
I also agree that this tidbit isn’t going to make or break the case. I assume they have much stronger evidence of the documents being insecure. (Not that stolen documents could be “secure” anyway).
That’s very different, Cheddar Cheese.
Never mind.
I expect that is true. But, she did not say that.
The more detailed listing I linked above simply says “Documents from office”. But, when I look at the volume, it’s way to much to be in the wall safe in my imagination.
I think somewhere Trump said they broke into his safe and didn’t find anything there.
“Hah! That’s the obvious place I would put top secret documents! So, I put them in my desk instead. No one would dare look in there.”
