This is scary. I can’t remember any Presidential candidate in history who manifested such signs of dementia. Reagan’s dementia came later I believe.
If he can see Iran as an enemy, and Russia is great friends with Iran, maybe just maybe he can get there (that Russia doesn’t have iur best interests at heart). Will the cognitive dissonance be reduced? One can only hope.
Can someone explain the Republican position that military aid to Israel should be not be questioned while aid to Ukraine is a waste of money because there is no plan for an end game.
What is Netanyahu’s plan for an end game? Will Israel ultimately destroy Islamic militancy with enough bombing?

Ukraine is fighting Russia.
There has been a huge disinformation campaign both from Russia and domestically such as Fox pushing that Russia is a conservative paradise where LGBTQ people aren’t tolerated. Tucker Carlsen even went over there and marveled at how they have things like automatic doors and bread at grocery stores to demonstrate how Russia was so much better than America.
Trump is very close with Putin and has demonstrated he tacitly supports their invasion efforts. He holds private meetings with Putin and refuses to allow any notes to leave the room. Trump continues to have private phone calls with Putin as a post-election citizen. Trump and Putin are friends, so Putin can’t be bad, because Trump is Very Good.
Russia is a fascist state. MAGA wants to create a fascist state.
Trump and Putin are both big strong alpha septuagenarians.
If we criticize Putin too much for his electoral fraud, fascism, age, etc., the same criticisms might blow back on Trump.

Given all the things Trump doesn’t know or incorrectly believes, I put little import on the fact he got Willie (who died at the White House during Lincoln’s first term) and Tad confused. Although I thought he lost a child during his presidency, I had to look up which child. Would that Trump pursue his dream of becoming a whale psychiatrist and abandon politics.

No problem. The Republicans will rewrite the history books after Trump takes power and the Lincoln story can easily be amended as part of that to align with Trump’s understanding.
In fairness, that could be a simple case of mixing up the Lincoln children. It’s thought that President Lincon did suffer from clinical depression after the death of Willie, and Willie’s death is said to have driven Mary insane.

During the 1990s, oligarchs emerged in Ukraine as politically-connected nouveau riche whose wealth came through ties to the corrupt — but democratically elected — government of Ukraine in its transition to a market economy. Later, numerous Ukrainian business people took control of a political party. The rise of the oligarchs has been connected to the privatization of state-owned assets, the distribution of property titles to state-owned enterprises, land, and real estate, on an equal basis to the entire population of the country, through instruments such as privatization vouchers, certificates, and coupons. Given different levels of risk-aversity, property titles were easily re-sold. Businessmen who could provide initial investment capital were able to collect these property titles and thus take control over of formerly public holdings.
Various Western nations have raised national security concerns over the oligarchic kleptocracy since the early 2000s but these gained greater salience after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine raised the national security implications of a great deal of money—sourced from Ukraine or Russia but spent in the West—finding its way into matters of national security.[9]
The oligarchs’ influence on the Ukrainian government was extreme. In 2011 some analysts and Ukrainian politicians believed that some Ukrainian businesses tycoons with “lucrative relations” with Russia were deliberately hindering Ukraine’s European Union integration.[10]
In 2021 Ukraine passed a law that defined an oligarch as someone fulfilling three of the following four criteria:
- They have a fortune of $80 million (€75 million) or more;
- They exert political influence
- Own media outlets
- Have beneficial ownership of a monopoly
There is a requirement to register on the “register of oligarchs”. They are then banned from financing political parties, cannot participate in the privatisation of major companies and must submit a special declaration of their income.[11]
That anti oligarch law is an enormous threat to all oligarchs and wannabe oligarchs. Ukraine is working at reducing the influence of its own oligarchs and trying to limit the investments of foreign oligarchs. Unsurprisingly the premiere oligarch nation invaded after they started this.
TLDR: Its class warfare writ on an international stage. The billionaire class must be eliminated or at least put on a short leash.

If I were American, I’d be worried that our friend Elon is stealing NASA’s intellectual property for the benefit of Wall street and corrupt politicians. Yet nobody wants to talk about this. It’s literally impossible that this hasn’t happened yet.

I think maybe anyone working in space is so impressed by spacex they don’t really care. The degree to which they’ve leaped ahead of the competition in almost every way is so dramatic that we might just give Musk the keys to nasa and call it a day.

As I understand it, the most specialized work is still done by nasa, who supports space x.
so space x is really doing something different from nasa.
they are doing much better than boeing to be sure, but that is probably as much on boeing.
