Yes, but even more surprising when a lawyer is so irrational.
It’s pretty amazing that Paxton got indicted 7 years ago for securities fraud and has still not been to trial. There are at least 2 other investigations for other matters ongoing against this guy in a bright red state, yet the GOP still thinks he’s the best man to head law enforcement.
True. There may be a timing thing he’s trying to game. Like if being served triggers a 90 day clock then the longer he avoids it the longer until starting that clock. (Or 30 days or 6 months or whatever)
Just spitballing… no clue if that’s a factor or not.
For his personal situation, securities fraud is far more critical. I expect he has no personal risk from the abortion lawsuit against the state, including that voters would likely not consider him responsible for any outcome.
To be clear, I’m not counting this abortion lawsuit as one of the other matters. Paxton just happened to get served as representative of the state. He’s a weasel for running from getting service but he’s not getting investigated for anything there.
The first other matter is an FBI bribery investigation, brought on by Paxton’s own employees:

And a state bar investigation over whether Paxton’s attempts to overturn the 2020 investigation in other states amount to professional misconduct.
This might be my favorite part. Of course “sticking to the Dems” is first, but that they are so brazen he isn’t even pretending that policy making is about their base, it is strictly for lobbyists and PACs - i.e. the people who give them the most money.
Refreshing honesty?
Dude got away with statutory rape (allegedly), will get re-elected, can say whatever the hell he wants.
I skimmed the article once and didn;t see who called who a moron.
You may need to expand the article.
most sane thing an R has been quoted saying in this thread.
should have another thread called "Rs caught telling the truth’
Wouldn’t happen enough to justify a thread.
Not sure if Tucker Carlson counts as a Republican and he could probably get his own thread but yesterday he said people are on the the Whole Hurricane Scam. WTF?
Does he mean people are capitalists or am I not getting what he’s referring to?
Oh, never mind. Global warming, right?
Obviously the media is only covering these disaster level events in the interest of pushing political climate agendas that benefit china.
he is off the rails. He is pushing alex jones level stupid.
I could go for a “Politicians who say remarkably true things” thread…or “Politicians unexpectedly admitting the truth”.
While truth seems increasingly rare for R’s, the D’s also seem to have a habit of acknowledging truth only to the extent it benefits them.
I think he’s being critical of Jim Cantore…?
Here’s a 10-second clip of the apparent remark, via Twitter:
“So you hate to hype hurricanes because it’s such a staple of TV and everyone is kinda onto the scam, but there is a legitimately large hurricane barreling toward the Gulf coast of Florida tonight”
Looks like the “scam” is just an aside. No explanation.
