Republicans Say the Darndest Things!

Apparently Carlson owns a house on Gasparilla Island, not too far from the current hurricane center. Its a scam when other people’s homes get hit by storms. Its not and legit when his home does.

Ah, that explains it.

Hype hurricanes? WTF?!?!

Hershel is such a class act:

“Jesus may not recognize you because he made you a boy. He made you a girl.”

Which I think implies that trans people are risking their chance to get into heaven.

God is all-knowing and the Bible tells us that He has literally counted the hairs on our heads and knows when one goes missing. So Hershel Walker believes that God is aware of all changes in the number of hairs on our heads but not when a transgender person transitions???

I would say that’s literally heresy.

So…on brand for today’s GOP.

But Jesus isn’t as smart as god.

Not the only one. Desantis voted against paying Federal Flood Insurance claims during Hurricane Sandy because they were not fiscally responsible. Meanwhile he has asked for an immediate blank check federal funding from FEMA to clean up Florida.

Not exactly unprecedented for Republicans:

It’s pretty much the party line that assistance from the federal government is totally evil, unless its for my benefit and then its absolutely necessary and the right thing to do.

Pretty much the Republican mantra for as long as I can recall. “Money for me, not for thee.”

Not saying this is Desantis’ position, but I can see enough differences between saying participants in the Federal Flood Insurance program should bear the great majority of the costs of the program, but have FEMA be responsible for costs of clearing public right-of-ways/lands with a reasonable state cost share to avoid hypocrisy.

The trouble with FEMA is its not cost-based taxation. The northeast/New England end up paying plenty in tax with just the rare clean up. Florida/Gulf states are tapping that bank account every year.

I too think that participants in the NFIP should bear the expected costs of the program. However, I don’t think that concept was involved any of the Sandy votes. He voted against this bill, which was temporarily extending FEMA’s borrowing authority so that they could pay flood claims. Pretty ugly to try to block paying claims for people that purchased coverage.

He also voted against the Sandy spending bill, arguing that some of the included longer term infrastructure fixes resulting from the storm damage weren’t an “emergency” since they would take place over years. I suppose you could argue that exposed states should cover this themselves, but I imagine he will state the opposite this time.

Bigger spending bill he voted against: https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/152

Oct 14 should be an fun day for this thread.

(Walker Warnock debate)

Yeah but he voted against paying claims for people who had been paying their flood insurance premium. It doesn’t matter what you want to do in the future about the flood insurance program you can’t tell current beneficiaries who have paid their bills to go fly a kite.

Is she… talking about abortion??? If not, is there ANY context as to what “killings” she is referring to???

Which party is known with featuring guns on their Christmas cards?

If she IS talking about abortion, is there any context in which abortion selectively kills Republicans?
