That may be because you were obliviously causing the drama that some other gal was obsessing about with her parents.
But how?
You missed the era of a $5 burrito bursting at the seams and filled with top quality ingredients, but itās still pretty good - I love their rice, sour cream, and vinaigrette most of all.
Somewhat random conversation/thought.
Say I spend $1 on ads, and make $2. I spend $1000/day on ads, on average make $2000/day.
So I think I should decide to start spending $2000/day. And for me, the conclusion follows. Yet my spouse keeps suggesting that we donāt spend as much on ads. No connection in their head, even after itās explained.
Is it a linear equation? I would think that at some point thereās a decreasing return on expenditures. I imagine, though, That point is probably way up there beyond where you are now, given your position on the matter.
Its linear until i either max out the advertising venue or my workload.
Ive spent some years and a lot of money getting to this point, where i can start to.scale. Spend a dollar, make 2. Now.its spend as much as i can, as fast as i can.
Ideally this is when a vc steps in and i start spending six figures a month. Except vcās are bored with insurance, no money there, so i have to ramp up slower, on my own resources.
You donāt need VC. All your actuary friends here are not going to want to lose this deal!
how much lag is there to reap the return in the $1 you mention? if you spend 6 figures in March, when does the returning 6 figures manifest itself? Bc if it is fast, then the VC lift is pretty finite before you can start sanding more on your own, right?
Lol, you guys asking the tough, but very relevant questions.
I just ran those very numbers, because I have to figure out how much Iām spending per month before I actually get that 2X back and the ads become self-sustaining.
The short answer is, 50% comes back in the first month, 25% in the second, 25% in the third.
But itās actually longer than that because thatās on the āinitialā sale. I have a unique sales process, so the initial sale is often only 50% of the sale - which is then distributed as above. Then i get the other 50% somewhere in 4-9 months from now.
Then on the front end, those numbers are from the initial sale, to being paid. But thereās a lag, often 2-3 weeks been the ad spend and the actual sale. So, basically add 3 weeks for all of the above, then add 50% in 6 months or so for about 1/3 of the sales.
Great question! And yup, that means Iām hemorraging money for many months before I see it back. itās a much longer sales process than many others.
how do you sunset an older email you use? like the one i link to things I enroll/sign up for (want to keep that) but just gets a shit ton of spam too. people I know now more or less text and send a single targeted email when needed.
thought brought to you by my deleting 5000+ emails in the last week to ācatch upā to when i lost bandwidth to do a daily purge. so that cleaned things up back to september
I decided to WFH this afternoon. I finally realized why my feet felt funny was because I was still wearing my work shoes.
My wifes cousins are currently living in Portugal (they got one of those Golden Visas from Brazil as they bought property)
They just asked me if it would be a good time to visit Moscow.
Caught me by surprise, but I can see why some people would see the current US-Russia rapprochement as a relatively safe window for travel around Russia.
Never a good time to visit Russia IMO.
I have never been (they assumed because I have been to most European countries). It was too dangerous to visit with my parents when I was younger (they were posted to eastern europe).
But there was arguably a sweet spot for visiting post-Berlin wall falling (90s) as the situation was much more diplomatic and cordial. Lasted until Putin picked up power.
Russia has a lot of things (architecture, art, culture, and museums) that I do think are worth seeing, but the current situation is what it is.
But I am speaking as a European.
Brazilians tend to be neutralish towards Russia. They do not see Russia as the enemy.
An acquaintaince of mine that is currently skiing in the US just told me she paid a tip for her kids ski school classes.
God, that is just so absurd.
We did a tour of Russia, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in 2013. The tour started and ended in Helsinki. It was a good time to go. In our tour group was a retired actuary and his wife. Some of you older actuaries here would know himā¦
Stephen Kellison, the author of the book āThe Theory of Interestā which we used in the old SOA exams. I told him his book was my ābibleā.
We had a great time. Iām so glad we did it back then and didnāt wait. Canāt do that anymore today.
One of the most important classes I ever took.
I would love to do a tour of the Baltics.
No way Iād set foot in Russia or Belarus any time soon, but it would be nice to see St Petersburg some time if things change once Putin is gone.
My son has some scary toes. I call them plier toes because his second and third kind of claw toward each other.
I had to get a new metronome app because āmusicians kitā appears to be defunct.
From the FAQ of āmetronomeā, this made me chuckle out loud:
Q7. Adding 2/2 time signature:
Functionally the same as 2/4. Use 2/4.
I managed to sneak in and out of the store without being asked to buy Girl Scout cookies.
