After last weeks storm, my house took significant damage. When I woke up the next day and surveyed the damage, the last thing I wanted to hear from anyone was “well at least you have insurance.”
But, I already had plans to repair my roof, so my roofer called me the next day and said “don’t worry, most of the work I do is insurance work.” And in just a couple of days, my roof was tarped, the tree and debris was cleaned up and the repair estimate was submitted to my insurance. I’m not necessarily glad I have insurance, I’m glad I have a good contractor.
I mentioned to a colleague that my FIL is in hospice and they told me they hope he gets better soon. No offense taken, not everyone is aware of what hospice is, and maybe they misread it as hospital, but it caught me a little off guard! I just said “thank you,” of course.
My FIL was also on hospice for several months . . . and it’s not always the case of “the end is near”. My grandmother is now “on hospice,” but only regards to her medical care is now focused on comfort rather than treatment.
Whenever I see that Springhill Suites commercial about families vacationing with young kids, it strikes me as humorous that the song playing is Roam by the B52’s. Do they not know what that song is about?
This popped up a few weeks back when I was booking some AirbnBs for our Peru trip next year. I was surprised the Italians gave the green light for such a partnership.
So, EV charging. Most of your basic household electrical circuits are on a 15A breaker. You can adjust it in some cars, but for the most part if you’re charging an EV on a 110v outlet, it’ll pull 12A (80% of the rated 15A). It’s no worse than a portable heater but it’ll draw 12A continuously for many hours.
If you have old wiring, or old outlets, this will stress test things.
Saw an accident in the opposite direction highway this morning. Two cars looked like they were playing Pass The Pigs with their cars – one of the cars was in the “Leaning Jowler” position.
Although I do think that traffic cops/traffic law exists to line the pockets of small towns and for no other reason, in this case yeah it was about how the cars on the side/in the ditch were arranged.
