Watching speakers at my church’s “general conference” - a lot of people are mentioning that it is Palm Sunday and then saying something about the original being “more than 2,000 years ago”. Um - no it wasn’t.
If the calendar is correct, we’ve still got 6 or 7 (the whole “no year 0” thing is throwing me off…) years before the original Palm Sunday was 2,000 years ago.
I’ve heard some say that Christ’s birth was actually a few years BC, but I don’t think I’ve heard it as far as 6+ years BC.

Williams Sonoma has a SMEG toaster which I initially thought was a quirky piece of Red Dwarf merchandise, for those of you familiar the show. Although to be fair, it doesn’t look anything like Talkie Toaster (your chirpy breakfast companion)
More just wtf. Son’s gf has pretty much moved in with us. Last night turns out her car needs brakes, calipers, wheel bearings and tires and shes a student so limited budget (and an oil change, but i got that looked after this morning). Her parents have offered her the use of a car, but itll be used as leverage at some point so not a preferable option. And no money for a new car. And afaic, her car is not drivable.
So ive had to spend.quite a bit of time figuring out how she can get her car repaired for super cheap and figure out how to get her a vehicle for school for the next week or so. Because if i didnt take over, she’d just keep on driving with no plan to get anything fixed, just living in anxiety.
I think ive got her sorted out, everything will be fine and in a week her car will be reliable again. But geez, this is her parents job. She told me its been a huge source of anxiety for her for months. What kind of parent leaves their kid with that level of stress? All she needed was some direction and a plan, not that much.

I bought my spouse a smeg kettle based on someones recomendation on this forum. Its a nice kettle.
Seems like I’ve read some historical evidence that they think the census was in 7 BC, but there was another census around 2 AD or so. I might be remembering wrong.
When I was at the Creation Museum at Christmas they had a planetarium show that was trying to match up the biblical description of the star of Bethlehem with various astronomical events that happened around that time (conjunction, comet, something else I’ve forgotten) and then which ones align with censuses… but their conclusion was that it wasn’t clear. Which I found interesting since they are quite certain that the earth is 6,000 years old and that humans and dinosaurs coexisted. I was surprised at their lack of certainty about the Star of Bethlehem and the fact that they had devoted their entire planetarium show to admitting their uncertainty.
Anyway, the earliest event that they looked at was around 9 BC IIRC. So they thought that was within the realm of possibility.

Idk about poor or middle class, but a good therapist (the kind not covered by insurance) is the best $ I’ve ever spent.

I came back to a bunch of crap at work to figure out how to sort through. Mostly expected stuff. And then one meeting invite from my boss’s grand boss (skip skip level, he is probably going to be in line for CEO at some point). He wants to meet with the “rising stars” in the org. Apparently that includes me.
I keep telling people I have no desire to advance from here. What about that says “upward potential”?! I don’t care if I would be decent at X, I never want to do X. Leave me in peace!

Why are movie previews called trailers when the come at the beginning of the movie rather than the end?
Update: They have asked for the boy to be placed with us at the end of the school year (so two months). Without his sister. We are open to it, but only if he is ok with the placement. And either way, not being around his sister full time will be trauma to be dealt with.
