Not yet. But ive called a couple of them hobos for taking too long to decide if theyre going back to school or getting a job.
Yeah, when you heard the whole story you really canât possibly think they did anything even slightly wrong. But I guess⌠âI gave money so that A could adopt B, and in the end C adopted B and thatâs not what I gave money forâ is a theoretically possible attitude. I canât remotely imagine that they werenât acting in good faith when they solicited the donations. And it wasnât to a GoFundMe⌠it was an actual 501c3.
There was of course, more total money spent in the end. Unwinding the adoption, the new coupleâs expenses ⌠but the bulk of the expense is the international stuff and that was all taken care of by my acquaintance & her husband with the help of donations from people they knew. The kid never went back to their birth country.
And now my classmate & her husband canât ever go back. They canât do any more international adoptions, or even visit that country. But I think the whole experience made them say âthe five kids we have are enough; our family is completeâ.
Mr. NA is getting his first colonoscopy in a week. The list of things he canât eat between now and then is surprising!

From what Iâve heard theyâve made the prep a gazillion times worse than it used to be. Why is that even necessary? I get that they want to clean you out but sheesh. I might see if I can find an old version of the instructions and do that and see if they even notice.
Also you didnât used to need it until age 50 but now theyâve dropped it to age 45.
And apparently they only do it until 70 and only every 10 years. So what does that mean?
It used to be 50, 60, 70 and now itâs 45, 55, 65?
How do you get one every 10 years for 35 years???
I suppose by the time Iâm 70 theyâll decide to keep it going until 75.
Iâm past 45 and havenât had one yet, so I need to do that. But the prep is so bad Iâm putting it off. I think I will space so I only need 3 ever, even if they do decide theyâre ok to age 75. Maybe 49, 61, 73 or something. Iâm pretty sure Iâm low risk which doesnât seem to get taken into account in their recommendation.

I think itâs only if you have some form of family history or if you have some indicators of being at higher risk for colon cancer that theyâve changed the recommended start age. I wasnât told to get one until I was 50.
Actually, I was 51. They werenât looking to schedule things during the height of the pandemic.
And if your scope come back clean IYKWIM, then its a 10 year gap to the next one. Butt any concerning results could have you back in 5 years.

Itâs 45 for everyone now. I had my husband talk to his doctor about it and she got him a referral, heâs 45, no family history.
The list is actually pretty much opposite of what I expected. Nothing with fiber, but most meat, dairy, etc are fine.
They changed the prep a couple of years ago to make it a crap ton worse. Pun intended.

I had to do an event today for a board I am on. I was getting ready this morning, something Iâve only had to do maybe 4-5 times over the last two months.
My 7yo came upstairs as I was about to leave, looked at me, and said âwow mom, you look really beautiful today!â And I said âoh, thank you, itâs probably because I did my hair today.â
And he said âyeah, thatâs ok I guess, but I think itâs because your eyes look like a raccoon.â
