Random Sports Thoughts

What are the criteria?

It’s not the actual rankings that I’m getting used to; it’s the schools listed in the conference.

(The listing is a ranking from one the new games on LinkedIn: LinkedIn: Games )

From an si article on my phone:

Irving was subbed out late in the fourth quarter of the Mavericks’ 196-88 loss to the Celtics in Game 5 of the NBA Finals

That was a helluva blow out.

Same

This. They are an act involving baseball, sort of like the Harlem Globetrotters are an act involving basketball.

Banana Ball is Calvinball under the pretense that there’s rules and they make sense.

I’m a little surprised that when they changed the placement for the 1 point try vs 2 point try they didn’t make any score from the 1 point try spot just 1 point. They should have made that change. So a blocked try where either team then manages to get the ball into the opponents end zone would only be worth 1 point.

That seems like a more logical rule. Once it’s established that the offense is making a 1-point attempt then any score by either side is 1 point.

But apparently it’s totally legit for the offense to make an attempt at the 15 yard line (i.e. the line of scrimmage for a PAT) and run the ball in for a 2PC. It’s 13 yards further than a standard 2PC attempt from the 2 yard line, but it’s legit to try it and it can surprise the defense.

So I guess in that sense there is nothing that clearly defines a PAT attempt as being distinct from a 2PC attempt until the ball has been kicked.

Whereas a 2PC attempt is a one-way street: if you take the ball at the 2 yard line you have no choice but to try for 2.

Still, if the offense kicks the ball from the 15 and either team runs it to opponent’s end zone… the kick would define it as a 1 point attempt and it seems like the score should be 1 point. Now if the long snapper or holder fumbles the ball or it’s a trick play or something… sure I guess you’d have to treat that as a 2PC attempt.

They should move all PATs back to the 2 yd line.
Get rid of the two point option. Either kick it or advance it into the end zone. But the ball is not the regular ball nor a K ball but rather a PAT ball - rounder like back in the old days. The kick, if chosen, needs to be a drop kick. Leather helmet is optional.

In fantasy football, QB’s should get negative points for getting sacked. Maybe something like -.5/sack

Eh. Count the negative yardage in the rushing imo

When I played FF they did. If a player’s total yards were negative that was zero.

But if they had 20 yards then lost 5 their total would drop to 15 yards.

Or if the first play was a 3 yard loss and the next was a 5 yard gain they’d only have 2 total.

Was wondering how many of my sports teams will win another championship in my lifetime. All 4 of the White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls have won since I was born in '81 and all 4 are seemingly very far away from winning again.
