MAGA would explode if Trump did this.
Our President was having his red carpet time at the same time as your PM. Trumpās was for the private screening of Melania. Doubt if Melania got as big a hug as the gay hockey player actor got from Carney!
Trying to change other settings in Outlook, I noticed that there is a function to revise your emails to cut out āsensitive geopolitical referencesā, and you can differentiate the editor settings by language:
Did you turn it on and type āGulf ofā¦.ā?
Huh, actually it seems like American English finds none of the following āsensitiveā:
Guessing this is more used in China, etc. at present.
I could not see the sense in Charlesā visit anyway.
I figure Trump loved the state visit with the King at Windsor Castle. He really likes pomp and circumstance when he is the guest.
IMO, thatās the reason for Charlesā invite to the US. Trump likes peer-to-peer hosting between two kings.
Iām sure he really, really wants that ballroom completed so he can show it off in these events. I wonder how many visits he will squeeze in between the time it opens and the time he leaves office. (of course, assuming he is replaced by an Republican, he will get many later invitations)
For a while now it seems like all visits have been mainly āSee, weāre trying and Iām not the d*ckā visits.
For no reason in particular this morning, I find myself thinking about how the real thing that damns America is extreme polarization.
I wonder how many otherwise/formerly non-lost-causes were driven to the punch bowl of MAGA Kool Aid because they were turned off by someone on the left who spoiled a bit of (perhaps naĆÆvely) well-intentioned fun because they felt obliged to damn that fun in that moment.
Sounds like trolling to me, but, OK, what exactly do you mean by Republican well-intentioned fun? I was tempted to follow this with a long list of things the Republicans have done that clearly are neither well-intentioned (wrt Democrats, that is) nor fun, but Iāll just listen instead.
I was referring to someone throwing cold water upon Chuck Norris jokes last week because Chuck Norris had some pretty horrible beliefs / because Chuck Norris jokes are a manifestation of certain aspects of modern American culture that donāt need to be celebrated.
Those criticisms are certainly valid, but the world isnāt a black-and-white place. Inappropriate humor made (perhaps naively) without malice still brings joy to a world that needs it. Discretion should be used when dampening it due to the likely negative reaction to having joy spoiled.
In my sphere of communication, I only saw a handful of conservatives being angry about leftists apparently being angry about Chuck Norris.
I saw one socialist, Millennial friend among leftists post a Chuck Norris meme and nobody got mad at it.
Of leftists I saw discussing it, it was mostly, āIn retrospect he had some gross beliefs, but the memes were funny.ā Didnāt see much grieving, but nobody seemed to care? Iām sure on like Twitter there are still ongoing fights.
OK, yeah. So I didnāt understand M_Sās comment at all because I literally heard none of the damning of the fun. Sorry. I also thought the memes were funny, fwiw.
Iāve seen a lot of assholes use the line āI was just jokingā to excuse some really shitty comments.
I havenāt actually encountered anyone reacting to Chuck Norrisās death in one way or another. Maybe I need to go digging through my Facebook feed, but it seems like mostly a non-event.
the only place i had seen it was a TCM Facebook group
True, but I think that Chuck Norris memes transcend ā
y commentsā.
You know, it occurs to me that if I were serving on our Glorious Leaderās cabinet, and were either anticipating being fired or wanted to retireā¦and if I wanted a nice financial parachuteā¦
Something familiar about the fired and expected-to-be fired people. Just canāt put my hand on it and grabā¦
I figure Gabbard is next.
She wasnāt able to lie like Trump wanted as she was under oath.
With Trump, being 99.9% loyal doesnāt matter. He will only focus on that 0.1%.
