Female? Though the ICE guy was male. I was trying to think, did Trump put any non-whites in his cabinet?

Tulsi Gabbard (DNI) is Samoan American, Lori Chavez-DeRemer (Labor) is Mexican American, Marco Rubio (State) is Cuban American, Scott Turner (HUD) is black, RFK jr (HHS) is Steroid American.

Any other states have active anti-property-tax movements?

I understand the argument that it’s not true ownership if you still have to keep paying after finishing the mortgage. But there are things like roads and power lines that help make your house actually habitable, so in that sense property taxes are more like HOA fees than rent. Imagine if you had to generate your own power or maintain your own roads. Besides, this movement still doesn’t have a satisfactory answer to how they would replace school money, especially considering how I’ve lost count of how many times Ohio’s school funding formula has been deemed unconstitutional. (At least five times I think.)

I don’t. If they tax my income, does that mean it isn’t truly my income?

That’s true

Yup.
You own this stuff, and you use this other public stuff that makes it great to own it, even enhances its value.

Maybe they’ll team up with the US to form TRUMPEC (Totally Really Unbeliavably Magnificent Petroleum Exporting Countries)

I ran (unopposed so I basically got it) for a union officer position, local delegate to the regional chapter. As a right-of-center libertarian (lower-case L since the name-brand ones are weird) and a generally pro-union … unionist? :man_shrugging:, I feel like I’m supposed to hate myself. :upside_down_face:

When I feel obliged to use the “libertarian” label to describe my political viewpoint, I tend to qualify it as “pragmatic libertarian”, as the LP is, at best, f’n nuts.

Yup. They’re just as un-pragmatic with their small-government views as those “The Squad” types are with their big-government views.

Meanwhile my former officemate who now works for Homeland Security is posting libertarian memes about how corrupt and stupid government employees are, complaining about companies building wind farms on private land and soliciting people to vote for the county to build a new ice arena.

So, big government for me, not for thee?

The US needs to return to having competitive civil service (federal service) exams. Standards need to be raised.

Only way to reduce the amoint of people with such incoherent views.

This is called Schrodingers douchebag: make offensive or inflammatory remarks, enjoy the comraderie if the crowd likes it, say they can’t take a joke if the crowd doesn’t

Guess the national ones are safe. (I’m guessing the irony is lost on this person.)

Can you define what this means in practice? I think of libertarians (as a former one) as being idealistic and very impractical.
