It’s… well it’s a dice game. You go through the dungeons fighting different characters, and depending on which dice character you are, you will use different attack/defend cards (and methods of obtaining or using those cards) that are activated with dice.
The Witch makes you learn attack “spells” that you attach to specific rolls of the dice. Level 1 was hard (12 year old is mad I beat it before him). Level 4 is level 1 on steroids.
I dont remember how far I got but the puzzles are really hard. However, I feel like looking up hints kinda ruins those types of games so I never do that.
Well I just lost my 3rd lvl 4 witch game and am ANGRY because on the 5th floor the stupid people were arranged so I couldn’t get apples properly! Ridiculous! Get out of the way folks!
Anyway yes I agree it’s quite hard.
My general strategy revolves around using my power at the start of every fight (ideally) and using the mirrors thing to get extra dice on the first turn, then using some mix of shield and weak to stay alive long enough to get more dice. Also I can’t seem to ever get freeze or healing… Both of which would be awesome I think.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to beat level 4 in less than 167 times. I came close once early on and it WAS SUCH A STUPID MISTAKE I’M STILL REELING*.
I may have beaten the game since then. I’m happy you’re enjoying it!
*The mistake was that I was fighting the vampire and he had less than 5 health left in the previous turn and I assumed he still had less than 5 health left on the next turn and used my last dice on the final 5 hit annnnnd… he was at 7 health. Then I died.
Okay, done. I got the “freeze” spell this run, and the bad guys were conveniently arranged, and I arranged my spells a little better. It reminds me so much of slay the spire, which I don’t recommend at all because you don’t need to lose another 100 hours of your life! Anyway, I’m super impressed by your record. I do not think I’ve ever tried so hard at anything in my entire life.
Wilmot’s Warehouse - Can be found on various platforms, but I’m playing on Xbox since it’s on Game Pass. It’s a delivery sorting / filling orders game that starts out easy and ramps up as you get more and more types of boxes. I like it so far as it’s oddly satisfying arranging and rearranging the groupings.
My Steam account says 430.7 hours on Slay the Spire. sounds about right. Dicey Dungeons didn’t grab me the same way as it did Tiff, I got about halfway through the challenges, but it’s pretty solid.
these are all in heavy rotation except Dr. Mario for us. fortnite and rocket league online too.
for all the Switch rec requests, Paper Mario and the Origami King was a lot of fun. some people really dislike the light puzzle mechanic for the battles, but I thought it was fine and the rest of the game is really great. one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in a long time too which is always a big plus for me (see again, Hollow Knight)
It’s a brilliant game. It’s really satisfying when you solve one. It’s immensely clever. It’s a good game to play with a couple of people together, too.
I bought it on my switch, and bought it again on my phone.
