News that makes you say WTF?!?!

I worked about 30 hours consecutively when I had a massive deadline one time.

I was already on a first name basis with security as I routinely worked long hours.

But yeah like two people noticed “uh, twig, is that the outfit you wore yesterday?”

“Why yes… yes it is, as a matter of fact!”

Made the deadline and got a $5,000 bonus, which at the time seemed like a lot. I want to say this was 2001 or so and I was much earlier in my career.

I got a good appraisal from my team but HR was all over me after that. It was like I was now a risk so later that year I went to back to Uni. That’s how I got my PhD. I was worried I was going to get fired.

I doubt anybody would care you were working past 10 PM unless you were pushing yourself to the point of working poorly.

However, if you’re a poor performer and more than rarely come in at 8:10 AM instead of 8, or return from lunch after 80 minutes instead of 60… Expect that to be among the support to fire you.

Oregon cyclist files suit after having been hit by an ambulance, which took them to the hospital and billed him $1800 for the ride:

I know how/why it makes sense…but it still looks WTF-ish.

Yep & yep

Hoesch estimated to police that he was going 5 mph to 10 mph and said he didn’t think the ambulance was going to turn in front of him.

From my years of cycling in cities - always assume the vehicle is going to turn in front of you.

I saw that and another thing they said was that it was because young people haven’t gotten their signature set yet so each time they sign it is different. I guess that is pretty much saying the same thing.

I can tell you that my signature in my late 20’s would have been significantly different from my signature when I first registered to vote at 18 or got my license when I was 16.

They also said that a similar thing can happen with old people. As they get older their signature changes and sometimes will no longer match the version that was captured when they registered to vote or the last time they had to provide a new signature to the DMV.

My signature isn’t set anymore because I have neuropathy in my hands and arms

What about dating, marrying, sleeping with, having children with men who voted for Kamala Harris? Is that allowed?

43 Rhesus macaques have escaped from a research facility near Columbia SC. Caught my eye as my SIL lives in Columbia: she has set out bananas and oranges in her backyard but not trapped any yet.

Sounds like the monkeys are having a good time.

Has The Army of the 12 Monkey taken responsibility for this yet?

I be saw this yesterday but didn’t put it here. Just saw that 2 of the players were sent to their rooms and no allowed back on the plane to go to Houston. Wonder what the minimum admission age is at Auburn?

Can not believe the buzz in Toronto (and Vancouver) over the last nine shows of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Half a million fans from 50 countries are expected to visit Toronto during her six concerts there. Ticket and hotel prices are astronomical. The CBC has non-stop coverage leading up to the first show.

We will be billeting a grandmother from southern Oregon for the first Swift Vancouver concert. She put out a plea for accommodation because of the $1500 cost of hotel rooms here so she will stay with us. Her FB page shows her to be an avid Harris supporter so we will not have any political disagreements.

Saw parts of her concert on HBO. Surprised at her lack of range and reliance on skin and other eye-catching distractions.

It’s not about her voice but rather about her lyrics and the incredible relationship she has established with her fans. It’s a cult like the Trumpists but healthier!

Swift and Trump are the two best marketeers in America.
