Darwin, do yo thang
Interesting about 2020. No “peer review” for setting off fireworks, i.e., “hey, you shouldnt do that”?
Surely this explains the non-covid excess deaths
Apparently not an original idea.
I’m hoping you just responded to the wrong post?
But you hope things are safer when the professionals do it but I guess it is always dangerous. No one died but I read one guy got hit in the face and the people around him though he had been killed based on how he reacted to the hit.
I wasn’t sure about putting this one here or in the Darwin awards thread.
A friend of mine posted it on FB and a fair amount of discussion arose because it is just so bizarre.
Bulldozer comes off flatbed of a tow truck in a canyon and lands on an SUV killing the driver (president and CEO of Lifetime Products) and a passenger (his daughter) injuring his wife and other 2 children that were in the SUV who it would seem were returning from a day of boating.
You were already ninja’d. My post was in response to the story you linked.
I don’t care what’s being hauled, I always give several extra vehicle lengths and where possible switch lanes.
I’ve personally had a loose (small, plastic) trash can fly off the back of a truck and once nearly had a full chair take off. I wasn’t always very smart about such things and was trying to transport college back home in one trip.
In the past I’ve seen a few things fly off trucks - mostly small things like a loose beet, but one time saw a truck loaded at a red light with I’d guess thirty ~50-pound bags of dry cement with the back open, and when it took off it dropped most of them behind. I nosed around it but the intersection was most likely closed lest somebody slam into it at speed!
To be clear, the tow truck was headed east while the SUV was headed west. The canyon road is very curvy and almost entirely 2 lane, one going in each direction. Very, very bad timing to be passing going in opposite directions at the exact time the bulldozer came off the tow truck bed.
Didn’t see this the first time but he was serving as a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Stake President. That is the leader of a group (usually 5 to 10) of congregations (wards).
Awe, I see.
Damn, we had some pretty funny discussions on “what dumb stuff Canadians do on Canada Day” vs “what dumb stuff Americans do on Independence Day” on FB and this story was voted by the majority as “the worst”.
The dad with the firework on his head (which was his own stupidity) or the one crushed by a bulldozer (which was insanely bad luck).
Bulldozer one is just plain bad luck. Don’t see how they could have avoided that one as it was out of their control. Freak WTF accident really.
The guy with the fireworks on head is just…wtf were you thinking?
Am still trying to wrap my brain around that one. Just so bizarre.
Just don’t use a firework to wrap your brain around anything (like he did). Trust me on this.
Mind-blowing.
I’m having trouble wrapping my head around it.
Alcohol
Not many thoughts happening
yup, I grabbed the wrong one. And I’m too lazy to edit.
Or people were just bored. Guessing some cities may have canceled their fireworks shows, thereby driving up the demand for home displays by people who normally don’t bother and therefore may be more prone to doing extra stupid stuff.
