News that makes you say WTF?!?!

If it’s a new brand I often have to buy multiple pairs until I find the right size.

I guess she could donate them to a homeless shelter.

Or maybe sort…
Sneakers: homeless shelter
Professional shoes: Dress For Success
Bridal: Brides Against Breast Cancer
Formal: Becca’s Closet

I don’t know what you’d do with specialty stuff like softball cleats and golf shoes.

Hmmm… maybe I don’t want this hassle after all.

Yeah come to think of it Weaselette does that all the time.

I think the article has said she has donated some to various local goodwill stores.

I think her biggest concern beyond the inconvenience of getting all those shoes is UPS or USPS is charging her and threatening her with collections for the delivery fees, and she’s concerned Amazon might start charging her for Sellers fees.

Just take them to the nearby Whole Foods Store.

UPS is another issue, though.

Both have the issue of not verifying return addresses.
I take it that they don’t really care, and that they do not think it is really their problem.

This is not the issue since the packages are addressed to her. The issue is that they don’t care that someone is using her name and address without her consent.

So like… why is this someone doing this? Is it a shoe retailer who just doesn’t care about losing the inventory? I don’t understand.

As per the article:

Third-party sellers who use Amazon fulfilment centres are required to pay for picking and packing orders, shipping, handling and product returns.

If an Amazon customer wishes to return a product to a third-party seller, the BBB says a company might try to save money by choosing a private return address rather than having to pay the cost of shipping packages overseas or having them processed in fulfilment centres.

When a seller’s returned products can’t be re-sold, the companies are charged with removal and disposal order fees.

It sounds like some Amazon seller wants to avoid paying disposal fees and they found a dormant Amazon account that has a name and shipping address and decided to let their returns be someone else’s problem.

Geez, what a mess. It’s crazy that the shoes are worth less than the fees.

Jefferson County Public Schools (Louisville, KY) cancels 2nd and 3rd day of school due to how terrible the first day of taking kids home went. Last kid dropped off after 10PM EST. Jefferson County maintains a bussing program designed to desegregate the schools so no one goes to the school in their neighborhood. This also gave rise to a magnet program designed to get kids who excel at certain subjects combined into the same school. As you can imagine this is a logistical nightmare. It also has caused a mass migration of families out of Jefferson County to the bordering counties and towns and efforts to end it by citizens have been taken to the Supreme Court twice in the last 40 years.

Does Louisville have dedicated bus lanes? They work well in some of the cities I’ve lived in.

I don’t think it’s a getting around town problem. Its a any given neighborhood has kids going to several different schools all over the county problem. Some kids go to schools as far away as 20 miles from where they live.

Hub and spoke. Red font maybe?

I read about the cable car rescue in Pakistan earlier this week. Drone footage is much worse than I pictured. Having to hang in this situation for 16 hours is unbelievable

Ugh, 16 hours. I can’t imagine. Glad they were able to rescue them though.

I am on the side that says, “Pin a medal on the cop, and give him a promotion, a parade, and raise”

But I think this cop might go to jail and probably will get fired.

TLDR Version:
NYC Drug dealer flees cops on a motorcycle,
quick thinking cop throws something to knock drug dealer off the cycle,
drug dealer dies from the crash
