Musk buys Twitter

It just becomes laughable.

Yep. You really did spend money on that.

#1 yay Elon wow such alpha good job

But isn’t it a kind of power to spend money on it?

i bet a lot of gamers would love to be able to pay somebody to grind for them.

Imagine being the richest person in the world and posting 60 times a day on Twitter.

I suppose that seeing “Elon Musk top rank in world” probably gives a rush of endorphins for a moment.

Even without considering the drugs he’s allegedly on, dopamine in his life has to be in short supply.

And he uses that profile on 4chan the site for anonymous hackers. One would think that the last thing you want is to be identified in real life on sites like that.

I’m not a rules person. To take my Minecraft game as an example, i regularly muck around with the difficulty, even using peaceful sometimes, to make various “hard” things accessible to me.

And also, when gamers are proved to have cheated or faked their hardcore achievements, there’s a lot of online scorn.

I guess i don’t care a lot about rules, but i do care about honesty. Did you do what you claimed? That matters to me. I don’t think I’m terribly unusual in that.

I guess i wasn’t thinking of following rules within the games.

I meant following rules more broadly in life.

To your point, I think the issue here isn’t whether he followed the rules in the game. It’s whether he is lying about doing it himself.

But aren’t we applying a rule for deciding whether he did it himself or not? The rule is that, if you pay somebody to grind for you, you haven’t done it yourself. I think caring about this first may be more unusual than you think.

I could imagine somebody focusing more on whether he has the high level character in the first place. It shows he likes the game, and has the power to get that character.

That isn’t to say that if other people are forced to focus on this, they wouldn’t tend to agree with us. But i don’t think that’s the emphasis.

It seems to be a too-rare thing nowadays.

Gamers don’t care that you “cheat.” Cheating by buying gear in game, or having someone build and level up a character for you or boosting your play with macros whatever that’s between you and the game and your enjoyment of the game. If you’re not playing in direct competition with others no one really cares about how you play.

It is Elon Musk getting on a live stream and playing like someone that barely understands the game but talking and cosplaying as the best in the world. That’s the problem. A quote from a Reddit thread on Musk cheating sums it up well. The quote is from u/Gougeded

He would be a lot more relatable if he just streamed himself playing casually as a super busy dad would but he has to pretend he is better than everyone at everything, which is really pathetic. He is a walking advertisement for going to therapy. Even being the world’s richest man doesn’t cure your insecurities.

I’m sure a lot of gamers feel like the quote below when Musk tweets about gaming.

Rod Hilton @rodhilton@mastodon.social

He talked about electric cars. I don’t know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Then he talked about rockets. I don’t know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Now he talks about software. I happen to know a lot about software & Elon Musk is saying the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard anyone say, so when people say he’s a genius I figure I should stay the hell away from his cars and rockets.

This is the gamer version of Trump cheating at golf. No one cares that Trump cheats at golf unless you are playing him for money. Trump boasting about being a great golfer, always having to win the trophy, when everyone knows he cheats is the pathetic part.

If you reflect on this behavior a bit what does it say about the character of the individual?

Exactly - he could say “Hey, I’m busy so I paid somebody to grind everything and I’m picking this game up at max level”, and nobody would make fun of him for it.

Musk buying Tiktok and training his AI on it is a horrific version of the future

There was a discussion a while ago in investment circles that there was a serious drive by other social media sites to peak at the Tiktok algorithm. It is seen by some as more advanced than that used by other social media sites and that is the real asset there. He would make a huge win if he manages to buy it.

I also think it would further cement Musk being the most powerful person in the world.

That’s a really bizarre tweet. I’m not even a software person, and i know that 127.0.0.1 is “home”.

Dude they’re gonna be colonies, not states. Can’t risk the Republican majority.

I think that was about when AI was starting to really appear to be able to do stuff, and he was probably just thinking the improvement rate was going to dramatically accelerate, and I think there were people who thought that was a possibility. They had know way of knowing it would happen, because they actually don’t really understand how it’s doing what it’s doing.

I took home to mean the US as a whole and the election result has allowed for the virus’s deletion.

Or maybe that’s giving him too much credit.

This is concerning.

Absolutely effin’ wild.

Asmongold is.. an unwell person who streams video game content and otherwise talks to his viewers. I don’t follow his controversy, but here’s some of what I’ve stumbled across/pieced together.

Many people view him as a sexist and he was banned from Twitch for racist statements. He’s been known to live in hoarder filth for quite a while, with cockroaches visibly around him, and for a while using a dead rat as an alarm clock - when the sun would start heating the rat, the smell would wake him up. Allegedly he recently hired a company to clean his filth, I don’t follow things well enough to care any more.

Somehow he still has a decent viewership, and he recently called Elon Musk out for clearly cheating at video games. In response, Elon Musk has removed Asmongold’s verification check and against Twitter’s Terms of Service released private DMs with Asmongold that he believes to be damaging - not understanding that he just released DMs banally discussing everyday management of influencers.

Anyway the richest man on earth is getting in a slapfight with an incel hoarder, and losing.
