It was pretty apparent from my perspective as a huge gamer. Though I don’t play those two games, I’ve relatively aware of them.
If he was dedicating 10+ hours/day to each of those games, sure, I’d believe it.
It’s incredibly pathetic. He may as well purchase the game studio and install himself as the canonical #1 player.

I don’t know. He wants to appear smart and competent and he values the opinions of young tech-savvy men. That’s not a crazy thing to want to excel at to make that impression to that audience.

I am not a member of that audience but I’m pretty sure that paying others to level up in a video game is not the way to impress young tech-savvy men.

I have long struggled buying into him running 5 companies at one go. He only has so much time in a day. There must be someone else at each firm who is basically co-ceo but not recognised as such.

Which to be honest, this revelation does not particularly change my opinion of him. I mean this is the same guy who promised us Level 5 AV by the end of 2020… IN 2020!!!
(If in 1990 he’d predicted Level 5 AV by 2020 that’s one thing. But he predicted it “this year” when he is in charge of the company that he said would have it to us. That’s some mind-blowing ignorance, on his part, of his own organization.)

I might take the time to update my signature if I could have it automatically counting up the days since December 31, 2020 and add a smart aleck caption.
I mean, he also has a sock-puppet Twitter account that talks about how great he is. I can’t imagine he did that knowing he would be caught, either.
I think a lot of people wouldn’t care that he paid someone to do the boring grindy parts of the game. The problem is that he also lacks basic skills, and yet is dumb enough to live stream it without expecting to get called out on that skill set.
And lacks basic tech awareness of how to set up the live stream to avoid some stupid stuff that happens in chat.
Edit: If he had just posted screenshots of his character and some cool inventory things, it would have had most of the positive image that he wants to convey without being as blatantly fake.

It seems like cheating to me too. If i had to guess, most of us are people of rules. Mathematical rules, test taking rules, regulatory rules. We are more the exception, i’d guess. With respect to the video games, we are probably missing the point completely.
I think that instead, we are dealing with the psychological attractiveness of bullies and winners.
Many people are attracted to bullies, as children and, apparently, as adults.
And even more people like winners, simply because they are winners.
I don’t think rules have much to do with it.
He regularly demonstrates lack of awareness.
