Musk buys Twitter

Takes so much energy to correct.

  1. Not HIPPA.
  2. Not a HIPAA violation to ask someone anything, barring accusing an officer in a court martial.
  3. It is a violation to reveal someone else’s medical condition or medications as a medical professional or health care/insurance employee with the knowledge without permission. Or something to that effect.

Jackass.

An interesting take on the enshittification of social media

Funny, I thought it was fully enshittificated when it was invented.

Thanks for the link. That was a good read.

I’ve had similar thoughts with the way marketing influences the overall opinions of the public since working in marketing and sales. Marketing of a single product influences the public’s understanding/interaction with that product. All the marketing for all the products influences the public’s interaction with everything not just all the products.

This reminds me of a much older analysis by the philosopher Jurgen Habermas on the public square.

As i remember it, he talks about the public square as being in tension between supporting critical evaluation compared to simple affirmation. Two elements tend to emphasize affirmation. One is the existence of political parties. The other is the press treated as a consumer product. This was in the 1960s

I see our current situation as those same trends on steroids.

This is quite worrisome because it looks like Musk now wants to spread his tentacles into the UK.

They can be the 53rd state after Canada and Mexico. Charles can be their Senator.

All due respect to the UK, but why would the US want them as a 53rd state? I can at least see the US wanting Canada for its resources and strategic location but sadly the UK has little to offer the US!

Idk , just seemed some poetic justice like caring for an aging parent.

I think you would find the Brits to be like cranky older parents: they would tell you how to run your country.

At least the Canadians would be polite and apologetic with their criticisms.

Mostly I find Trump to be a guy who talks firsts and thinks never.

And, they would probably spoil all of our territories, turn them into brats.

And they would overrun Florida much like they have overrun southern Spain. Ask the Spanish how they feel about that.
