While the bombing campaign has been extensive, indiscriminate is something to be established on a case by case basis. The more bombings that are unexplainable, the more the adjective applies. Targeting standards thay are too lax could also run afoul of interantional law.
Israel is already up for a hearing in February on their occupation of Palestinian territories, but this was begun before the current escalation and wonât reflect on those events. Any resolution wonât have teeth anyway.
At least Turkey has referenced Israel to the Hague for current war crimes and attempted genocide. I canât say how much theyâre serious and how much theyâre looking to bloody Israelâs reputation (likely some of both, likely more the latter.) Nor could I guess the likelihood of the Hague taking that up.
Only weak countries face any consequences from the International Court. Israel, like the US, is not a signatory to the ICJ convention so I donât see anyone from Israel even showing up in The Hague to be tried?
I can totally see them going ballistic as usual, but they can still be tried in absentia.
In any event, they have few friends left in Europe.
Even Germany is pulling back now. There is just no way for their politicians to explain away that many deaths (children). The âbut Hamasâ explanation is simply not going to work anymore.
People are angry because they see a mass loss of life, while pro-Israel politicians try to censor public opinion by trying to criminalise protests against Israelâs behavior.
They have lost all international goodwill at this point.
I think Israel is banking on only needing one international friend.
That dog only bites Secret Service agents, though.
I would love to see once this conflict cools back down the US shifts money that is currently going to Israel to rebuilding Palestinian Gaza. (Actual rebuild not just hand it to the ruling authority)
Because the US has such a great track record of fixing Middle Eastern countries that are devasted by war? Look how well we did with Iraq!
Palestine doesnât give us anything we need, so itâs worthless to us. Much like how the Kurds were only worth something to us when we needed their help fighting someone we didnât like, and the moment that ended we turned our back on them and let them get slaughtered and it was thoughts and prayers.
The US is now mentioning it publiclyâŚ
Biden is realising that he is putting his re-election bid in jeopardy by giving Bibi and his right-wing cronies political cover. I would cut them loose personally as they are also putting the lives of the hostages at risk (which would torpedo Bibi & Co domestically).

Itâs not the extermination of Palestinians per se, itâs just the indiscriminate killing of lots of Palestinians - especially the children - in the name of vengeance and wiping out the sworn enemy of the state, so itâs supposedly acceptable.
One thing is 100% for sure now.
Israel has lost all moral authority. It has completely evaporated now that they have killed 10,000 children (just writing that out - its such an utterly insane number over course of less than two months).
They will never, ever be given any international leeway given what they experienced during the WWII/Holocaust.
That ship has now sailed. They are truly on their own now.
Just to be clear, is that 10,000 children based on the number of people under 18 years old?
Yes. Thats how they are defining it.
I havenât managed to find any breakdowns of age groupings below 18.
Not justifying anything, but keep in mind that the number of Palestinian children killed is supplied by Hamas, vis a vis the Gaza Health Ministry, and they have a not so subtle interest in making that number as large as possible.
In previous conflicts, the number of casualties reported by Hamas ended up being credible (it was checked independently by less biased sources).
Its not like they are reporting 10 children being killed for 1 that is actually killed.
Even if you adjusted for possible bias (say 30% more), that is still 7,000 children killed. In less than 2 months.
Lets not sugarcoat this:
We are now approaching Pol Phot level of extermination when it comes to children.
âŚ
Abduction and indoctrination of children was widespread, and many were persuaded or forced to commit atrocities.[28] As of 2009, the Documentation Center of Cambodia has mapped 23,745 mass graves containing approximately 1.3 million suspected victims of execution.
Thats the total number who were killed. Not just children (the Wiki entry is not well written or clear)
My point is they did that over several years. The current conflict has been less than 2 months.
The below (credible official source) points to 1.671M deaths over 45 months. Thats 37k deaths/month.
In two months, you would have 74k deaths.
10% children = 7,400 deaths in 2 months.
Just so Iâm clear, youâre assuming that 10% of the dead Cambodians were children and further assuming that 67% of the dead Gazans are children?
That seems somewhat unlikely to me, but I am not an expert on the Cambodian genocide⌠the school year always ended before any of my history classes made it that far and I havenât spent as much time educating myself about it as I might.
