Also reported on WaPo, but this one doesn’t have a paywall.
Hamas attacked the aid convoy, killing at least 5, injuring multiple others, and possibly also taking hostages.
This may spin off into its own thread [or into some existing, dormant one] but Israel is clearly feeling its oats and itching for a regional conflict.
Maybe it will take attacking other countries for people to realize “shit, maybe we should have paid more attention to the Israelis genociding the Palestinians.”
This still basically boils down to Bibi trying to keep any conflict going to keep himself in power. He can’t do much anymore in Gaza (as even the military is turning against him), so he is now trying for Iran.
With him driving this, Israel has become a clear and present danger to the civilised world, as he will no doubt keep pushing for regional war.
This is also what happens when you give a country like Israel offensive weaponry far beyond their capabilities. They cannot be trusted not to misuse them for political ends when it suits them.
Just to play devil’s advocate…if it were accurate that Iran was days away from having functioning nukes, I’d expect most Israeli leaders, not just Bibi, to authorize a strike on Iran if the US wasn’t going to do so.
However, under the circumstances…I’m skeptical about that claim.
We can begin with Mike Huckabee, the US ambassador to Israel, to tell us when he was told of the preemptive strike.
I’d like a better sense of the timeline here.
Bibi has been claiming that Iran was a few months away from having nuclear weapons for over 20 years.
He was lying then (confirmed by multiple US SNIEs) and is lying now.
The only difference now is that he is even more desperate for a conflict and the US is rubber stamping their moves in the background.
Rubio’s statement does not say that the US supports Israel and instead emphasizes that the US was not involved and should not be retaliated against.
Donald Trump: famed negotiator for world peace.
To be fair, the Abraham Accords in his first term were a great achievement. Obama won a Nobel Prize for far less (in reality, for doing nothing.)
Iran is now launching missiles into civilian areas of Israel. They’re not targeting military targets.
Iran has also clearly stated that they want Israel to be completely destroyed.
This fits the description of an attempted genocide. Where is the outrage?
We will give you 24hrs to think about the absurdity of that comment.
And in case you haven’t been told: israel is the aggressor here and Iran is going to respond as they see fit.
Israel just killed many civilians in Iran, and now Iran is going to do the same to Israel.
We are all very tired of Israel’s behavior. They are a loose cannon that continually destabilises the ME so now they will get bupkis support.
They can fix their own mess. And stop complaiming when the people that they attack shoot back at them.
Hamas was the aggressor on October 7th. You’ve made it very clear that doesn’t excuse Israel’s response.
Israel only attacked military targets in Iran. You want to talk about absurd comments? Start looking at your own.
55 000 dead.
And counting. I would suggest you muzzle it. Your comments on this thread have been nothing short of abhorrent
55,000 innocent dead. And counting. [And that’s probably an undercount given the mass starvation campaign the Israelis have embarked on.]
Not to mention the scores upon scores of injured, including children with limbs blown off - in a number of instances, intentionally.
But yes, the real evil is the people who build their headquarters in areas where they can use civilians as human shields and when there’s damage, they blame the other side for inflicting casualties on civilians as a means of … wait, I’m getting a message from the control room - it seems that Israel put its defense ministry in the heart of a densely populated area, surrounded by schools, residences, offices, shopping, etc. like it was using civilians as a shield of some sort.
Will the US be dragged into this? Rubio is not committing, only stating the US will not ignore attacks on American bases. Will Bibi ring a fire alarm, riding a horse through Tel Aviv shouting " the Shiites are coming, the Shiites are coming". What sort of emergency shall we declare here before we flush the bombers?
What ever the answers are, there will be more blood and suffering.
Something something kick a hornet’s nest, something something
Something you fail to recognize is that Israel has an advanced military that allows it to carry out very surgical attacks against it’s enemies, while its enemies have to rely on the capabilities they have available to them.
You also fail to recognize that being enemies with someone requires both parties to acknowledge how they became enemies to begin with.
Perhaps if you consider these things in future posts in this thread, you will find more in common with Poly, if that is your goal.
I don’t think Poly and I will find anything in common when it comes to this conflict. He’s repeatedly refused to condemn Hamas or the October 7th attacks. He now seems to have no problem with Iran purposely targeting civilians. Iran is supposed to have advanced weapons, that have precise targeting systems. Yet they launch ballistic missiles at the middle of Tel Aviv.
Even if Israel kicked a hornet’s nest, shouldn’t Iran be going after military targets only?
Where are the demands for the arrest of Iranian leadership?
Or, we could just lock this thread and ban everyone from posting about it ever, or at least ban TP and FA from it since their banter contributes nothing of substance to it.
