Do you feel the same way if this is flipped: Iran targeting a legit target in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem is fair game?
Itâs weird how legitimate targets are only ever in the countries we dislike and never in our own countries.
Command and control center = any government office, police station, central phone switch office, power station, etc. The term gets used to justify killing a lot of nearby civilians.
Kind of like how human rights abuses are bad when itâs done by countries we dislike, but when itâs a country we like itâs
.
The leader of a group that a country has officially declared war upon is a legitimate, legal, target. By pretty much any/every international definition.
BTW: Donât try tell me that Iran has not tried to kill the head of Mossad or Shin Bet. Everyone here knows better.
Hezbollah and Hamas are proxy armies of Iran and have been constantly attacking targets in Israel. They just arenât successful.
ETA: Usually arenât successful..
So you would be Ok if Iran succeeded in that including any collateral damage?
Depends on the collateral damage. Also, Iran has not declared was on Israel. That does make a difference from a legal standpoint.
I donât think they want to as that would make all of their commanders legitimate targets in or out of Iranian territory. And, as has been recently amply demonstrated, their security has some issues.
Please note also that Israel refrained from doing this in Qatar or Egypt. Those countriesâ territory being used for negotiations.
Sounds about rightâŚ
Israel has already committed many crimes. The ICC is going to have a field day with this:
Maverick disagrees.
I guess Israel wasnât making up accusation against UNWRA workers from whole cloth. Gee whoda thought it?
Definitely not you! Now you have some more people to hang on your wall of heroes.
The chief of surgery at Hadassah Hospital released a letter regarding the incident with a terrorist being abused. He said that after examination, there was no evidence of sexual assault. The individual told the doctor when he came in that he had suffered a fall. They found bruises on his head, chest, and stomach, and suspected abdominal bleeding.
The doctor also stated that in cases of sodomy, there is both internal and external bleeding - in this case, there was only internal. In his opinion, the wounds were self-inflicted.
Israelâs finance minister apparently encouraging the military to commit war crimes.
Never thought Iâd see the day where Israel used the same military tactics as Russia, but here we are. At some point, Hezbollah or Hamas is going to do this back and the pro-Isrsel folks are going to scream in horror while going to back-breaking lengths to explain why killing Palestinian kids is OK.
Egypt and Jordan refuse to accept an Israeli proposal to create camps for the Gaza population. A controlled exodus would allow the civilians to be filtered from the militants and get them out of harms way. It would also simplify getting aid to them.
I do not understand why everyone seems bent on allowing Hamas to use civilians as shields. The US could guarantee the ability of any civilians to return to Gaza very easily. Simply inform the Israeli hardliners that we will stop sending aid and selling weapons to Israel if they prevent a refugee return.
Itâs not ok. Israel released footage of the strike, and it can be seen that surrounding buildings had little or no damage. 19 militants were killed. If kids died, itâs the fault of the Hamas members who operated out of a school.
If Iran or Hezbollah attacks children, the difference would be that soldiers werenât operating from among them - the target was only the children, not fighters.
Would Israel ever let them return to their homes again?
Iâve wondered about this too. Maybe they canât actually filter civilians. Or maybe there is nowhere to send them to.
Hamas wonât allow them to leave. It already happened when Israel announced safe areas, and people tried to go there - Hamas stopped many from getting there.
