Israel - Hamas War October 2023

This is false on an epic scale. Rabin was murdered by settler fanatics and the next Govt changed the “rules”.

As per Wiki:

The Palestinian education system teaches children to glorify suicide bombers, and that the best outcome in life is to be a martyr. They have summer camps where they put on plays of kidnapping Israeli civilians. They DEFINITELY have hostile propaganda towards Israel.
So no, it’s not false on an epic scale. You’re just incredibly biased.

I think you need to invest in a mirror (you accuse many people of “bias” on here).

None of what you just posted has anything to do with your previous post.

Land grabs don’t happen due to differences in education systems.

They happen because one group wants land that another group has, so they will make any “rules” that will justify them absorbing said land over time.

The “game” is effectively rigged to their advantage. Objective people see this clearly.

But do feel free to post real evidence of a real justification for land transfers.

I’ll wait.

This wasn’t a “land grab”. Israel already controlled the land. The reached the Oslo Accords to try and move towards peace, but the Palestinians didn’t keep to their end.

Bizarre story about ultranationalists storming Israel military bases in protest after Israel takes action on alleged human rights violations occurring at the bases. Apparently, many in government were supportive of the sexual assaults of prisoners and extrajudicial deaths of prisoners as only 2 cabinet ministers condemned the attacks.

I hadn’t heard of “price tag attacks” before.

These are officially denounced by Israel including Netanyahu, and indeed the attacks can target Israeli troops or left-wing Israeli citizens. In general though, it’s a policy of violent terrorist attacks upon Palestinians by far-right Israelis in response to attacks by Palestinians or actions by the Israeli government not seen as aggressive enough toward Palestinians. Not to punish a Palestinian responsible or considering at all if a Palestinian is guilty of anything, but simply slaughtering whatever Palestinians are found or otherwise destroying property/food/water or making life worse for Palestinians.

From what I can tell, though these practices are officially not supported, there may not be much incentive to stop them. One example of several that you may read into involving a broader time period:

According to Yesh Din, which monitored a selection of incidents over 4 years, Israel Police did not file a single indictment following 69 cases that included price tag operations, where thousands of olive trees were burnt down between 2005 and 2009.[60][61]

Just saw this.

Israel created this monster (far right settler fanatics) and the problem has grown much worse over the last 30-odd years.

Cannot recall one instance in the west when you had civilians storming army bases due to their radicalism.

They would have been arrested, charged, and given lengthy prison sentences.

If I’m reading this correctly - Netanyahu’s ministers are saying that IDF soldiers who violently rape detainees are heroic and shouldn’t be treated like criminals?

Yep. Smotrich and Ben-Gvir.

A product of the extremist movement.

That’s my impression.

I read some of the stuff posted earlier today and I’m puzzled by the shocked response that Palestinians have ill wishes towards Israelis. If you’ve been killing off and maiming people’s family members, taking their land, restricting their movements, and destroying their homes for going on a century, there’s going to be a ton of ill will towards you. Yes Palestinians have done a bunch of bad things to Israelis, but the Israelis have done a bunch of bad things to Palestinians.

Reports of a large explosion in Beirut. This comes a few days after Hezbollah bombed a soccer field in Israel, killing a number of children who were playing ball there.

Israel said they carried out an attack on Beirut, and killed Haj Mohsen, also known as Fuad Sukkar. He was behind the attack in Israel the other day where 12 children were killed.
He was also believed to play a major part in the 1983 Beirut bombing which killed 241 US Marines.

Devastating, IMO. Not sure how anyone supports Israel’s actions, nor why the US continues to support with weapons after this segment, except for the money poured into candidates’ coffers, of course. And not only by Jews, but some Fundies, as LWTwJO notes.

It was heartbreaking to watch the Palestinian man explain how they built a fence over their heads to prevent the Israelis from throwing their garbage on top of them, and during the interview, an Israeli threw and hit the Palestinian in the head with a beer bottle from several floors up - clearly enough to kill if it hit a certain way.

He also noted the old slogan “Never Again,” which he modified as (paraphrased), “Never Again, unless we are doing it.”

Doesn’t seem like there are any “good” guys in this war

Haniyeh is dead! Amazing news!

As much as Israel may not want to touch off a wider conflict, it is moving in that direction by doing things like killing a Hamas leader in Iran. I’m not going to be surprised if one of Israel’s enemies decides to off a semi-high profile Israeli figure, if only to send a message “hey, if you want to play this game we can do this too.”

The question then becomes whether Israel decides it wants to escalate in retaliation, or if cooler heads finally prevail. But shit like systematically abusing captured Palestinians throughout this conflict and excusing it under whatever guise feels right at the moment, coupled with targeting people in other countries, is going to have consequences at some point, and I fear that point is coming soon.

Netanyahu is dead! Amazing news!

No, that is not true, but one thing you should ask yourself, if it was true, and someone said that, how would you react? Do you think it is possible that someone could share a very similar rational perspective as you, but just from the other side of the conflict?

I celebrated bin Laden’s death. I thought it was okay for people to hope (preferably in secret) that Trump died. In fairness, I’ll say the same about Biden. All these guys, Mr. Hamas included, command billion dollar war machines. Whether it’s appropriate on a career forum is a different discussion, of course.

I don’t like Bibi. Seems like he sucks, honesty. But he’s the democratically elected leader of a prosperous nation that respects women’s rights and has made peace with several of their regional enemies. If I’m forced to bet on either Bibi or Hamas, I’m taking Bibi.
