I am going to buy this (these) today and reasons why

dude, WTF? are you spiraling? Do we need to stage an intervention? Or do you just have sooooo much money that you’d rather waste it like this than on hookers and blow?

My payments will actually decrease with the new truck / trade

But how many more payments will you have?

Then there’s that…
It’s 2 y/o - I get a good trade value to upgrade. I always have a car payment - I don’t mind it (usually 0% interest and all).
If it makes you feel better I keep my iPhones for at least 5 years

Well you and I are obviously very different in how we buy cars. It’s not sounding like you’re saving any money in the long run, but if you’re happy with your purchase then that’s the most important thing.

if he’s getting rid of his current truck, how happy can he be with it?

How happy can he be with the new truck given that he’s getting rid of the old one?

I dunno, possibly pretty darn happy if there’s a substantial (to T-roy) difference between the two. :woman_shrugging:

Well, they are boring to drive. Great for hauling, but yawn-fest.

Yeah, trucks don’t make me happy, so I can’t really comment intelligently on why they make other people happy.

But judging by the number of trucks sold every year in the US and the number of people who drive them in place of cars… they obviously do make other people happy. It seems like that’s a pretty normal thing.

Some people near where I live are at their happiest when they get to roll coal on hybrid/EV drivers, joggers and cyclists. You need a diesel truck to do that.

Newer ones are better, and I think the Ridgeline is the best option if you want it to feel like not a truck. I’ve contemplated buying one several times over the years.

Still looks like a truck. Walks like a truck and talks like a truck.

Well that’s a pretty lame way of deriving happiness. :judge:

Dodge rams drive like an SUV not a truck, and it’s very different. That’s why I’m drivinga dodge.

Wow, I’m sold!1!1

Currently thinking about wrapping my car, since the engine probably has another 100K miles on it, but the paint is finally beginning to show its age.

It’s on a unibody, it’s not an S2000 but it’s about as much car as truck. They drive pretty nicely.

Nicely??
I need a car that I can drive safely around idiot drivers and hazards. My wife’s car drives “nicely,” and I stay in the slow lane the whole time (for long road trips).

Eh, it’s relative. The Ridgeline is more nimble than most trucks, but it does have a little extra ground clearance compared to many cars. C&D says 0.79g on the skid pad, that’s totally fine for the road.

Also, I know this may surprise you, but not everyone shares your preferences on what vehicle to buy. Weird, but true.

I understand that. I am merely noting to others that THEIR preferences are not universal.

Nor optimal.

Feels like the perfect thread to say: YMMV.
