In Chicago, a riot without deaths and dozens of arrests and widespread looting of department stores is considered a dull affair.
'Twas quite the comeback.
Spring is here. I dragged my tired ass out of the house (see post above) and got on the scooter to get some Thai for lunch. The city is jacked from last night’s win and everyone is smiling. The place I went to has laab, one of my favorites, as an appetizer. I got that and a cup of tom yum soup and it was excellent.
Got rested up. Saw some pretty cheap tickets to see Ben Folds tonight (in the front row of the balcony). The show starts at 8:00 and it’s a mile from my house, so I hope I’m not up until 1:30 again.
Was it $5?
I heard about a concert where tickets were only $0.45. It was Fifty Cent and Nickleback
LOL
It was $170 for the pair including fees. The cheapest seats were about $60 each face value, so $85 each for these seats is very fair. Probably right at face value.
Beets are up!
I plant a garden full of beets every year then make pickled beets (I make a crapton, then give most of them away). This year I decided I’m going to start stuff from seedlings (tomatoes, peppers, some herbs, etc) so I figured I’d try beet seedlings as well. They just cracked the dirt this morning.
We’ll see how the transplant goes in a few weeks.
I was second-guessing my ability to write a good exam question, but I got good feedback about my submission and was asked to put together a second one, too.
always so satisfying to get that stuff out.
I remember being assigned a relatively well worn topic and thin paper. (National Flood program - my actual work had 0 to do with it to that point, and less since then.) I liked the challenge!
I’ve already OD’d on Mini Eggs oh noes
My spouse decides this year that they didn’t need to buy easter eggs and some small gifts for the kids. By kids, I mean one is doing their PhD and the other is married, with their own house.
That’s a no from me dawg. you’re on that duty for life. I mean, they’re adults, but they’re still kids. Can you imagine the disapointment if they woke up easter morning and there wasn’t a chocolate bunny and a starbucks gift card? vs the comfort knowing that they still get that?
So yeah, happy thoughts, the kids will still get their easter stuff.
I volunteered to drive stuff into the married one’s house late at night so they would wake up and it’d be at their house, but they’re here for easter supper the day before anyway; they’ll just get their stuff then (and yeah, their spouse is now on the list for stuff as well).
Nope. Not doing Easter baskets for the 20-somethings this year.
I got tootsie rolls for my nephews. I was trying to think of what wouldn’t make a mess if they ate it in my car.
I think you are supposed to eat all the ones with cracked shells showing chocolate. It’s just a matter of presentation.
Oh, and bad news on the Kinder eggs. Make sure yours are OK.
My mom and aunt are coming over this weekend. I think I should mention the time they told my SO that the reason I was overweight was because of my SO’s cooking. It’s always good to.remember fun times with family.
That’s a compliment, right?
Nope. It was stating that they were responsible for what I ate. My SO was polite, but entirely clear that if fatty didn’t want to be fat they could stop shovelling food into their face and solve their own problems.
It shows that you eat well: it’s considered very attractive in some societies!!!
Been trying to lose substantial weight for some months, been going well but I’ve plateaued. Or so I thought. Haven’t weighed myself in a few weeks and figured I was stable. Nope, down another 5 lbs! Goal of my wedding weight is within reach.
I love modern medicine.
