this was a great morning for a bike ride. 40 degrees so chilly enough that I was comfortable in gloves, yet not so cold I didn’t get up to a sweat. I feel great!
My cutoff for getting on the bike or scooter is 50°, you’re hardier than me!
Day before a holiday: we get out 2 hrs early!
go on…![]()
Perhaps I need to put this in the bragging thread, but, back in the day, my cutoff was 10° F. Under that point and I had difficulty keeping my fingers from falling off.
Heck, a few years before back in the day, I’d go down to 0° F…then I realized that I wasn’t really enjoying my time out there, so I raised my standards.
OTOH, I find 80° F to be too hot.
Well, as.I’ve said before, people whose body doesn’t match their minds can now treat their body like a meat suit that they can take off and put a new one on. That’s cool af and its interesting to extend that out 50 or 100 years. What would Asimov have done with the idea?
For the weight loss, just a needle once a.week, some attention to food intake and some exercise and the weight is coming off. And, without it being a life defining struggle. Normally for me to lose a decent amount of weight I have to exercise to the tune of half marathons or centuries.
What’s in that needle & can I get it in the US?
Semaglutide.
what happens if you stop taking the needle?
No idea. I’m hoping my eating habits are modified enough to maintain my weight.
I eat like a wee little bird now instead of a farm boy.
Been taking my scoot into work recently when there’s no rain in the forecast. Which means going in when it’s around 40 and coming home at 60-70. That morning commute really wakes me up though! Glad I bought motorcycle gloves!
Today my bum was numb by the time I made it in.
Care to share what brand of scooter you have? Any suggestions for buying? I’m looking to get one or an ebike for my daughter. She’s of driving age, but very small and frail, so she’s afraid of driving. I’d like her to have transportation.
I have a Genuine Buddy. It’s only 125cc’s but it gets up to a good speed. And it’s super cute. Important factor.
When I was shopping around, I really liked Lance scoots, too, but they were on back order and I needed something in stock.
Genuine, KYMCO, and Honda are all worth a look. Vespa are fine (I own one) but they are the most expensive so probably not the best place to start for a new rider.
The Honda Super Cub is the best selling vehicle of all time, Honda has sold 110 million of them. They’ve figured out how to build a reliable machine.
State laws vary, but generally if it’s a 50cc scooter or smaller, she won’t need a class M license, but check that. Even if she doesn’t need a license, I would at least consider putting her through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course.
Oh, I will also say, my husband has a generic Chinese scooter and it’s fine, but seems to need more maintenance than mine does. He had to have it “hacked” to get up to the speed he wanted and had the belt replaced very early on, but it does run well and he’s able to do most of the maintenance himself, like replacing the carburetor and such.
We both change our own oil, and have to do that pretty often (every 500 miles or so). Not sure if that will be an issue for your daughter, but if I can figure out how to do it from YouTube, literally anyone can.
Turns out I was wrong, and the laptop is WAY too fast to disable the touchpad when I want it, and also to record stray touches when I don’t want it.
It’s very frustrating. Oh well. I guess I have this for a few years. Other than that, it works very well.
Is that what spec is in the manual, or do you change it once a year and 500 miles is what you drive in a year? Vespa specs 6,200mi oil change intervals (plus a first oil change at 600 miles), but I’ll probably just change it once per year.
I googled that, that’s a nice bike. Unfortunately I live in an area where riding that would be perceived as an insult to my dignity. I mostly ignore that stuff and DNGAF about what people think of what I’m doing, but riding a 125cc bike around town is gonna be out of reach.
It’s suited to more urban environments where 40mph is the limit. For a more rural setting I think some kind of scrambler would be fun. Depending on how crazy you’d want to get, 250cc is fine, 1000cc is insane, with a wide spectrum in between.
More of an lol. I just gave someone an award on Reddit, then told them to consider it as an Oscar for best performance in a drama.
