I’m not a big cold fan but enjoy this. I was pointing it out to my son during the cold weather this week and he was totally unimpressed, as expected.
I grew up right under the flight path to a runway at OHare and the other noise that always fascinated me was how the sound of the planes landing got incredibly sharp sounding on very cold days. I haven’t been in a place to hear that in a while.

I like having four seasons, but last night it was -10°F (-23°C) and that is too much. But the worst is over, will be in the teens and sunny today, tomorrow we will be in the 20s (about -5°C), then well above freezing over the weekend. Assuming the bike paths have been cleared (they usually are) I’ll be on the bike Sunday.

Hopefully in about 3 weeks we’ll be in the -5 overnight +2/3 during the day. That’s like a pump for maple syrup.

I’m guessing we’ll get some more cold weather, but after February the risk of below-zero weather goes way down. And the probability of biking weather, which I define as 45°F or above, will start going way up soon!

More of a lol than a happy thought.
I was speaking to a guy today, about 64yo. I asked for his wife’s dob, he rolls it right off his tongue, she was born in 1982. I said ‘way to go!’. He said, Yeah I know right? She’s way younger than me.
I had to explain that I was congratulating him on knowing his wife’s dob off by heart rather than congratulating him on marrying a younger woman lol.

yesterday I used the washer fluid. after the wipers stopped the remaining fluid on the windshield froze in a beautiful pattern that looked like snowflakes that continued to grow larger and larger until they were all connected. it was cool. and ended about a second later when i wipered it away
