Happy Thoughts

+1 for headache. Had my coffee already plus an aspirin. Just got back from a long walk, which kinda helped. Might grab an ES Tylenol to help with the actuarializations this aft.

ETA: Did not take any extra pain meds.

People actually take aspirin? I have never in my life.

Little known factoid:

Taking a 81mg baby aspirin can be positive for general health when older because of its effect on blood viscosity (it works to thin the blood enough so that you have less of a chance of a heart attack or stroke)

I take it only for headaches, when it is often quite effective. For other pains I take Advil.

I rarely take either. I’d guess max 4x/year.

My father took baby aspirin for decades. Not sure if he still does.

You know, mom, I am crazy about this aspirin. I can’t believe we give it to children!

Nah, it was for the heart thing mentioned above. Back then baby aspirin was the easiest way to take a small dose. Now they sell low dose aspirin specifically for this use.

I think that’s pretty well known. It’s the only reason I’ve heard of people taking aspirin anymore, not for pain relief.

Aspirin works the best for me when I have a headache. The others just don’t do it for me.

That’s what I’m saying. Aspirin+caffeine is even better for that.

Excedrin FTW. Aspirin, acetaminophen, and caffeine.

had an allergic reaction to aspirin 45 years ago, so haven’t taken it since

This made me google: 0.2% to 5% of the general population may have an aspirin allergy. It’s most common in people with 2 predispositions that I have, so I guess I dodged that bullet.

Just got interviewed for an insurance article for the Globe and Mail. Had a great chat, the reporter agreed to have another chat once me and my buddy launch our insurance AI.

FYI, I’ve had a ton of media mentions. Surprisingly, it does absolutely nothing in terms of direct sales. It’s good for search engine stuff and long term branding, but don’t be thinking you get your name published and people start buying your stuff. That’s never been my experience.

It is a nice ego stroke though.

Happy, then not so happy

trying to Fact Check confirmed the story, except that the horse was put down in March 2022 after contracting skin cancer.
