Happy Thoughts

Got together for drinks tonight with my former Mercer colleagues at our local beach restaurant. This is always a happy occasion but the views of the snow on our local mountains make it that much happier an occasion. Reminds me why I live here.

That’s the longest I’ve ever seen someone from Vancouver go without talking about how great Vancouver is :).

I won’t wait so long next time: guessing you don’t want to see my Whistler photos from today?

It’s hard to be modest about Vancouver but I was the same way about Toronto when I lived there.

I have repaired my friendship with someone who used to be a good friend through the emotionally complex technique of inviting myself over and saying I miss you, we should be friends again. Only price was having to listen to a few minutes of her talking about how angry she is with my ex-wife and why they are no longer friends. (She used to be best friends with my ex, which is why we drifted apart.)

Is the Churchill quote about Attlee applicable?

Much to be modest about?

There were many quotes: which one?

“… a very modest man. Indeed he has a lot to be modest about.”

I believe several are misattributed, such as the empty cab pulling up and Attlee getting out and a sheep in sheep’s clothing.

My understanding is that neither was actually uttered by Churchill.

Just had to replumb under the sink. One small leak because I failed to tighten a fitting. Tightened it, voila no leaks! So that’s new. A lot less cursing than normal.

It’s not a project without swearing and busting a knuckle.

It’s not plumbing without cursing and a busted knuckle and a leak.

I signed my son up for Tourette’s camp (fun, not therapeutic) for end of June in Georgia. Which means we’ll be driving down to Georgia twice in two weeks, since we have our family vacation in Savannah the second week of June as well.

I was at a grocery store that I haven’t visited in quite a while. They had amazing prices on lean ground beef, boneless/skinless turkey breast and whole salmon filets, so Daddy went to town!!!
