My niece brought us a ton of veggies!!!
A happy thought, even though only our daughter takes the dog for walks now. Wife (usually 1/day) and I (occasionally) take him out to do his business, but those rarely leave our yard.
My spouse hasn’t worked at the university of waterloo for almost 20 years. But she’s stayed in the lottery pool. Couple weeks ago they won 25k…or just over 1k each lol.
Hmmm… $1 a week for 20 years is $1,043 so congratulations for breaking even before you take taxes into account!
(I don’t know if they play every week or how Canada taxes lottery winnings. And I’m in a lottery pool too.)
My spouse does the lottery, including weekly draws. Yeah, it’s an entertainment expense. No taxes on lotteries in Canada, but the lotteries are govt run so the profit goes to the same place.
The only time I buy lottery tickets is if I’m somewhere way up north. My spouse has this idea that all the big winners are from small towns, so I’ll occasionally drop $50 if I’m in The middle of nowhere, for them.
Interesting. In the U.S. lottery winnings are taxable income. You can, in some cases, take a deduction for what you paid for tickets that calendar year but that’s after the winnings go through a lot of calculations to determine how rich you are or aren’t. In fact in some cases you’re better off to claim you are a professional gambler because of the way losses are treated.
(Professional gamblers are taxed somewhat differently from casual gamblers.)
I speak no Spanish, but I helped get an anxious Honduran man about to become a father to the right gate for his flight to take him to his wife in Ohio. Google translate is an amazing tool.
Nothing in the world feels better than sliding into your own (clean!) bed after a long period away. Vacations are great, but not as great as coming home.
or he was going to Toledo, Spain and is now cursing your existence
I have slept 20 of the last 25 hours, and now I’m back on a normal schedule.
Supper Tonite: real biryani from hyperbad.
One of my fishing with nerds buddies got married, his wife’s been in Canada six months now and he claims she makes the best biryani. She’s making it today, he told me to come by at 4 and pick up some for my spouse and I.
I’m really looking forward to it. He promised they wouldn’t make it too spicy lol.
Interesting spelling. Potential sequel to Superbad?
Love biryani, by the way. Enjoy!
It was two years before I could pronounce buddies name. Working on locations next.
My daughter sometimes makes biryani for us. Very good, and not spicy at all, IMO. Normally I would prefer spicier, but this recipe works well as is, maybe better than if spicy. Lots of chickpeas.
BF came over today and figured out how to work the whole home stereo system. I can sit in my office and play a song on my phone and have it piped to the speakers in any room in the house or on the porch outside.
But I’m a Luddite, so we’re also going to buy a CD player so I can play CDs the same way.
I had no idea that I had a subscription to Amazon music! I can also listen to Sirius XM or the regular over-the-air radio stations. It’s pretty snazzy. And BF is smart like that.
I can now confirm buddys wife does make the best buryani. Omg what a meal.
