Interesting factoid. “The speaker of the House” is third in line according to the 1947 Presidential Succession Act. But, that act does not require that the Speaker be an elected member of the House.
Trumpkins want to “reinstate” Trump. This is the first time I’ve seen a constitutionally sound way of doing that.
It appears that 2/3 of the Senate plus a majority of the House can remove both the President and VP and replace them with any (over age 35, natural born) American of their choice.
Or, if the Rs take the House in 2022, they could elect Trump as Speaker, inviting some Trumpkin with a gun to remove Biden and Harris without worrying about the Senate.
Uh, that cannot be done in 7 days. Could be done after the 2022 elections, which are now being tilted in the GOP’s favor by allowing partisans to remove a lot of voters from the rolls. And, the Supreme Court doesn’t seem to mind.
I hope Stacy Abrams and her several clones are working eight days a week to get these states democratic-controlled: GA, AZ, and every state in-between.

I think part of the days pitch is rooted in point one: they think that the Congressional Black Caucus and other unspecified “key groups” are suddenly going to flip and support Trump (and impeach Biden and Harris). It’s pure delusion. Agree that this sort of end run would be much more plausible if the GOP controlled the house and senate after the 2022 elections
McCarthy is supposed to select GOP members for the January 6th commission soon. He’s making a visit to Bedminster to talk to Trump in advance of making the selections.

Fortunately I don’t have any immediate family or close friends that are full on Big Lie believers, but among the more distant family this is certainly the case. The fact that Trump tweeted there were missing ballots means it’s certainly true because he’s the only public figure that is trustworthy, and the CNN article disproving this theory only makes them believe Trump more.
Exactly. Fox has spent the last 35 years telling the faithful they can’t trust any of the “mainstream media”, much less a far left outfit like CNN. If you only watch Fox, it’s easy to believe they have proved this conclusively.

McCarthy blocked all the GOP proposed members from the Jan 6 commission, as unless Pelosi allows Gym Jordan to come peddle his big lie theories in the committee no other GOP nominee should be allowed to participate.

A minor annoyance. GOP will probably create their own select committee, likely concluding that Antifa and Pelosi caused any problems on 1/6.
McCarthy’s action are a continuation of the insurrection by these treasonous scum. The Republicans are running political interference with the continued goal of overthrowing the US government.
They’re throwing up a smokescreen because the D’s did not want insurrection-supporting R’s on the panel, so they said, if you’re not going to allow these people on the panel then we’re going to do our own investigation!
So now on the taxpayer time they are going to create a narrative of, “Of course the Democrats blame us for this, it’s a fake news witch hunt! Our investigation investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing!”
