GOP and the Big Lie

Twitter is obviously not the real world, and there are countless bot accounts on there, but the number of accounts that are purportedly from real individuals who have Trump in all kinds of contrived images as at least their cover photo is truly bizarre.

I drive around the area, I don’t recall seeing the first Biden flag up since the election. Most of the houses that had signs/flags up supporting Trump have at least Trump flags flying, possibly more.

But remember … it’s not a cult.

Trump supporters do like to proclaim their support for him. Oddly the flags proclaim no more bullshit, seemingly unaware that Trump at the time was president.

Wasn’t there one of those where a bunch of boats sank?

That was the time the big boats created such turbulence that the smaller boats sank. I remember someone on AO referring to it is an appropriate metaphor for the Trump presidency.

“If you’ll forgive me, maybe because the election was about you.”

LOL

I wonder why the Trump supporters from the 7 states that submitted fraudulent slates of electors haven’t been prosecuted yet.

Never give up, never surrender.

Nothing amusing came out of it.

Now I just got this one from don jr.

includes picture of his creepy face

Message from Donald Trump Jr. → I can’t lie to you guys. This election is going to be a tough one so it is REALLY important we hear from you. We need you to take the Official 2022 Nationwide Census. Take 2 mins and get it done: https://winitback2022.org/r.wr?id=redaxted

Do you know why he is talking about a 2022 census?

Because Trump.

It’s “Official” too.

It was a personalized link, so I didn’t want to click on it, but I figured they were asking things like “Would you support Trump as dictator for life or is ten years long enough and then we’ll hand it over to one of his minions?”

Probably also asking for money. I get Republican Party “census” stuff in the mail all the time asking my opinion on all manner of stuff but they want you to mail them money with the completed census.

I got a “polling” phone call many, many years ago. When I told them that I planned to vote for the R candidate, the next question was something along the line of “Oh, would you like to volunteer for [R candidate]?” or “Oh, would you like to make a contribution to [R candidate]'s campaign?”

I felt like such a sucker because now I knew I was on their list.

A group of right wing “luminaries” signed an open letter in December stating no one did anything wrong on January 6th and that Cheney and Kitzinger need to be expelled from the GOP.

You’ll recognize a few names. One is Ginni Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas. She was also cheering on the effort to overturn the election on Facebook on 1/6. She apparently deleted her account shortly afterwards.

Perhaps the fake electors from only 5 of the 7 states might get prosecuted. Apparently 2 of the GOP groups got nervous about whether what they were doing was illegal and “the state’s GOP electors pushed Trump campaign officials to add legal caveats to the fake certificate to say they were only electors-in-waiting, if Trump’s legal challenges prevailed.” Those 2 states were PA and NM.

Not surprisingly, details are coming out that the fraudulent elector scheme was being managed by Trump campaign officials including Giuliani.

I was under the impression that the potential electors were selected before the election. Is this right? Were the seditious electors those who were chosen by the GOP before the election or were they more seditious than that?

Yes and no apparently. 2 Michigan GOP electors refused to sign and were replaced. One GA GOP elector did not sign and was replaced. Not sure about the other states.

I did a search and found that in total, of 84 people across seven states, 15 chose not to participate in the fake electoral vote.

Yeah, I believe most or maybe all states require candidates to have a slate of electors as a requirement for even being on the primary ballot in the first place.

One of hubby’s friends is a Bernie Bro and was actually going to be one of Bernie Sanders’ electors in 2016 had Sanders won the Democratic primary.

The electors are selected SO early in the process that they basically have to have a provision to replace them as I think it’s fairly common for one or two to die before the electoral college meets. They’re typically people who have donated a lot of money to the candidates and/or are pretty involved with the campaign. I think they tend to skew old.

Hahahahaha.
