This concept of âThis item is grounds for disqualificationâ is anathema to democracy. The whole thing only works if there is cooperation across different perspectives. We donât get to enjoy the wisdom of the crowd if that crowd has only a single perspective.
Now if you truly believe you **know **what was in Platnerâs head when he got the tattoo, then Iâm fine if you wonât vote for him. For those that do not enjoy the ability to read minds, they should also be given a choice to endorse his own explanation.
If we want to change the system in any meaningful way, then we have to organize and that means tolerating, if not embracing, a lot of perspectives.

If you choose not to believe him, a problem, as I see it, is still that both candidates have âdisqualifying issuesâ imo. I think my tiebreaker (or maybe itâs not even the tiebreaker at this point in our country) would simply be who do I think would be better for the country and Iâd probably end up voting for the devil I donât know at this point in our country.
This is precisely why anybody connected to Trump needs to be electorally anhilated. Just like Hungary did with Orban.

I think that there is a gulf between being willing to hold your nose and vote for someone because their opponent is awful, which is the case with virtually anyone vs Collins, vs. actually supporting them. Maine has 1.4 million residents, are these really anywhere close to the 2 best options to represent them?
They may be the best 2 options for which being elected to this office is also best for them.
Generally the best options for political office have the good sense to not get into politics.
