Chick-Fil-A, McDonald's, & Starbucks

Cross post to things that bother you more than they should.

Yeah, Krispy Kreme is way over-hyped. They’re not even as good as Dunkin’ Donuts, which is sort of baseline, IMO.

I’d much rather eat a warm loaf of sourdough bread with my bare hands than eat a doughnut.

Why not both?

I’d eat the crunchy brownie edges before a doughnut.

Mmmmmm, crunchy brownie edges. You’re making my mouth water!

Why not both???

I had a Boston Creme donut at Tim Horton’s earlier this aft.

I’d eat the crunchy part before a cake donut, but not a yeast one.

Huh, lemonade -is- a soft drink!

Any drink w/o alcohol is a soft drink, ffs. That’s why it’s ā€œsoftā€ and not ā€œhardā€.

If you’re annoyed a non-soda is called a soft drink, that’s just because you don’t know how to call a soda a soda.

Hmmm, I’d eat a plain cake donut before many yeast donuts, although if I was ordering a donut I’d get a yeast one.

But I think cake donuts have a bad rap. They’re pretty tasty. I don’t like a lot of stuff on them though.

Huh. TIL
Never knew about cake vs yeast doughnuts. Powdered sugar doughnut = cake doughnut and cinnamon twist doughnut = yeast doughnut?

I’m going to take an unpopular stance and admit I’m not a fan of donuts. They are sooooo sweet. They are okay as an afternoon snack, but make a horrible breakfast.

Like most Americans, i grew up thinking of donuts as breakfast food.

Most powdered sugar donuts that I’ve seen in a bakery or doughnut shop are yeast donuts, and the prepackaged ones you get at the gas station are just gross… I’m not sure they’re worthy of being called cake donuts, although I suppose by a technical definition they probably qualify.

Then you would probably prefer plain cake donuts as they are not frosted or glazed. While they are sweet, they are not super sweet like frosted or glazed donuts are.

No, those aren’t worth eating at all. The only thing donuts have going for them is the sugary sweetness of the exterior. The cake donuts are inferior cake as cake, and I’ve never had a yeast donut that wasn’t glazed, but I’m pretty sure a baguette would be better than an unglazed one.

I do enjoy glazed donuts, powdered sugar donuts, and cinnamon sugar donuts. Especially cinnamon sugar cider donuts. But i eat them as a sweet afternoon snack. And i eat them maybe twice a year.

Well I don’t care what y’all say; cake donuts are yummy.

I usually opt for maple glazed, but if I want something less sweet than that then a cake donut is perfect.

De gustibus non est disputandum

Yeast donuts are superior to cake - except for the double-blueberry cake donuts at the place across the street from my grandma’s house. Those are amazing.

Can we talk about tipping?

Uber started out as appealing because you didn’t have to tip. This was a major + over traditional taxi.

For whatever reason, because murika, Uber started to allow tipping, and to be expected due to murika mentality, now you are expected to tip.

I mean, so far I can stand. Except our city now has a COVID charge on ubereats, which is a $2.5 fixed fee that is supposed to go directly to uber drivers.

So, what is the expectation here? Are drivers making dough? Am I still supposed to tip the full 15~20%? Am I to tip at all?

Ooh, good question.
I have no clue.
