Annoyed Thoughts--Other Drivers Edition

there are few places where you consistently see such moronic driving behavior and selfishness. but the dropoff/pickup lines can almost always disappoint

And/or they are just incredibly selfish with where they stop.

Mini Me’s school has a set-up where about 10 cars can fit from one end of the building to the other. So it’s supposed to be that car 1 pulls all the way up and cars 2-10 file in behind, 10 cars worth of kids hop out, those 10 cars leave and cars 11-20 pull up to let their kids off.

Except around car 21 the idiot parent wants to drop their kid at the very closest point to the door, which is in spot 4. So instead of pulling up to spot 1, like the building principal is signaling them to do, they stop at spot 4 wasting 3 spots. Now instead of getting 10 cars through, only 7 can get through on that round.

ALSO, whenever I happen to hit spot 10, the parent in spot 9 decides it’s too far for their snowflake child to walk so they don’t shoo the kid out of the car, and they wait and pull in to spot 2 and THEN let their kid out. Mini Me got out when I was in spot 10 but instead of leaving, I’m stuck waiting for the fluffhead in front of me to let their kid out slightly closer to the door.

These kids are 5-10 years old. Exercise is good for them. Stop trying to minimize your kid’s walk to the detriment of all the other parents!!!

There is a special place they can pull off to the side if they need extra time. So if their kid has a physical disability or needs to carry in a special school project or something there is a provision to handle that.

That’s not what’s going on. These parents are just selfish.

I mean… most of them are fine, but a few fluffheads ruin it for everyone else.

Yes. At my daughter’s school where this happened there were 3 lanes. Middle was for driving & the other 2 were for stopping. Which yes, could be bad for the far lane but most parents did actually watch for the kids.

Inevitably people would stop in the middle lane to drop off kids. So I didn’t worry about using the far lane since my kid could usually cross with no problem.

But the day of the incident, with all three lanes blocked, some chowder head decided to create his own lane between the middle and far lane. He almost took our car door out but obviously that was the least of my concerns. I managed to see him and sent my go go gadget arm to close the door before she got out. I really don’t know how.

(So he got stopped by the light on the way out to the main road and I got out of my car and yelled at him. I’d like to think I saved multiple lives that day but I don’t know if any of that sunk in.)

I was running errands midday, and it was pouring rain. I was waiting to cross at a marked crosswalk when a couple of cars ignored my presence. Traffic ahead slowed, and a policeman also ignored me and came to a stop blocking the crosswalk.

Is there, like, a secret society of evil drivers who coordinate to pace traffic at below posted no matter which way you turn, or something??

FBI: Delete that shit right now

I’m taking a back road home that has a 70 km/h limit and 1 lane each way. Even at 75, doofus behind me is riding my :peach:. Driver and passenger look like high school kids. When we hit the 60 km/h zone, they cross the solid yellow line and pass me. Doofii then pass the guy in front of me while crossing the solid yellow line yet again and proceed to tailgate another driver up ahead. :meep:

I’m out for an evening walk when I see buddy slow to about 25 km/h at a 3-way stop and just keep right on going… :unamused:

I’m merging on to the highway and there is a fluffhead in the lane already who was actually speeding up and not giving me room to merge. He changed lanes at the last micro second.

It’s rush hour on the highway. Some fluffhead in an Audi is weaving back and forth in his lane behind a truck because he wants to go fast, but CURSES, the universe is holding him back!!! :man_facepalming:

Can’t remember if I told the story…driving back from Canada to SEATAC, crossing the border there are numerous(at least two) lanes all backed up …fluff head in an suv keeps changing lanes cuz she thinks the next one is better/faster when in fact they all move forward somewhat independently…as soon as you change into the fast moving lane it becomes the stationery lane because you have time to write a letter back home.

I was the Other Driver this time:

I was signalling to go right out of a plaza parking lot on to a busy street with two lanes eastbound. My lane had an empty patch, but as I made my turn, I saw a car signalling a lane change from the far lane to my lane. HOLY FLUFF, I slammed on the accelerator and I saw buddy ease back into his lane. Of course, he gave me a honking that I richly deserved. :grimacing:

That’s a tough one. You can simultaneously be “the idiot” and also be mindful of the backup of cars behind you. If there is light traffic, then I will typically wait for both lanes to clear, though it depends on how sharp the right turn is. In heavier traffic, it is expected that one would turn right into the closest lane as opposed to starving to death waiting.
