It’s a Twix! They’re all Twix! It was a setup!
We divvied up the 50 pack to make gift bags for some of our neighbours’ kids and grandkids. Now we’ve opened the 120 pack we got at Costco.
I found a big bag of (American) Smarties at Target today, so snagged it as backup candy. But the funny thing is the bag had a big Canadian flag on it and it’s labeled with a big Made In Canada.
Literally watching this episode right now.
Tough crowd. I’m sitting outside posting on GoA with my full-sized candy bars on display on the table next to me. Kids ring the bell of the next-door neighbor (who is either not home or not answering).
Kids walk right past me. I’m like HELLO!!! FREE FULL-SIZED SNICKERS AND M&Ms HERE!!!
Ok, next band of kids stopped all on their own. I was a little worried it was me.
I think the first group was distracted because the next-door neighbors on the other side left a bowl of candy unattended with a sign.
I hand out shots to the parents too. Went through about 40 shots of liqueur this year.
SO is best friends with the next door neighbour’s wife, so whenever the kids remark on the full size candybar, I always tell the kids to mention this when they go next door lol. Because I know he’s not handing out full size bars.
Best costume this year, mom/dad/son and young daughter. Three of them in ghostbusters, and the young girl dressed as stay-puft marshmallow man.
We used to get like 100+ kids and it went on for hours. We must be the old neighbourhood because I don’t think we get half that anymore, and we’re pretty much done by 7. Nobody really over about 8-10 years old anymore either - don’t get the gaggles of teens.
Convention here is, outside lights on, handing out candy. No outside lights, don’t ring.
We get lots of kids who come in from worse neighborhoods. It’s nice to see how happy they get to get all this candy, always makes my day.
My son made it all the way down our street tonight, it’s the most he’s ever done. He has a good plunder. I generally don’t do sugar, but the mini boxes of milk duds call to me.
Yeah, I suspect that’s fairly standard. I think they have dusk-to-dawns though (their lantern is lit up), and I suspect they’re not home. They have a lot of family in the area, so I suspect they took the kiddo trick-or-treating with cousins somewhere flatter than this hilly neighborhood.
Ok kids, you’ve got 20 minutes until Monday Night Football. Please come relieve me of this candy!
I think I will up the loot to TWO full-sized candy bars per kid.
I want to do full size next year. Giving out 3 fun size this year, but some are bad, like gum. Fewer kids than last year which is a bit surprising, but weather driven likely. About to call it.
I’m sitting in the house of the person i’m visiting’s home. Person is not here. I have ALL THE LIGHTS OFF in the front so that trick-or-treaters won’t bug me. once in a while, the dogs lose their minds barking, but i have yet to hear anyone ring the doorbell.
We just closed up shop. We’ve had light rain on and off; the weather is supposed to be beautiful tomorrow.
perfect fall night for holloween.
not many kids, but didn’t expect many. first year here “post” COVID
We got about 8 kids. One complimented me on my costume. (I wore the same plague doctor mask as last year)
I saw a lot of kids walk past. Maybe i need more lights. We have a big hill, though, and if they turn the other way there’s a dead end full of houses that’s all level.
Jelly. I might have to invest in one next year.
We had this one fat little butterball here this year. He was SOO happy to get the candy, just a total burst of sunshine. Then he booked it, all out, all the way down the street. That lil mofo was totally getting his exercise tonite. I laughed for quite a while.
