I didn’t pay close attention, but saw someone’s idea about how the teams would be realigned. I didn’t catch who it was or if it was something official being floated. They had Cubs and White Sox in the same division. That would really suck imo. They already play against each other more than I want and if I want more games between them, I want them to be in the World Series.
A few years before Toronto got an expansion team, the San Francisco Giants were poised to relocate to Toronto. There was much excitement as the Giants and the Montreal Expos were both NL clubs so they would play in the same division. Didn’t happen so more exciting was the possibility of a Toronto-Montreal WS in the early 1990s when both teams were good. Sadly that will now never happen as Montreal will never get an expansion team in the future.
if there’s 4% more money on the table for 162 games, then logic won’t really matter
Again, can’t read it.
But, they could make it like the NBA Basketball League:
Two Conferences, Two Divisions each.
Play 12 games against teams in your own division. 84
Play 8 games against teams in same Conference other Division. 64
Play 6 games against teams that finished prior year at the same spot in their standings in the other two Divisions. 12
So, one away trip to two other teams.
160 total.

A criminal since birth!
Speaking of criminals:
Nice read.
Notable omission: Teoscar Hernandez.
Fun fact, Mookie Betrs had 9 as of Aug 2024, according to AI.
Not one since moving to SS.
Interesting read.
Most folks here are probably too young to have seen Jimmy Piersall play. He was one of the most colourful players of his era. I remember he once hurdled a low fence in a ballpark and caught the ball well beyond the right field home run fence. Can’t recall whether it was ruled a catch or not but it was the only time I ever saw a fielder do that.
based on how he was described in boston, that’s an understatement.
catching a ball in the air or with at least one foot still in live ball area then landing over the fence would be catch and carry (cath counts; dead ball, one base award to other runners)
Probably, considering that the dad actually started that whole thing ![]()
where are you reading this? I am trying not to read my news from clickbait and I am inclined to think that there is more to the story than the headlines.
not in my opinion.
the ball was loose and he grabbed it first.
the woman had no right to it just because it landed closest to where she was sitting.
I once had a super fast foul ball screaming at me. I nearly caught it on the fly, just popped out of my hands and into the lap of my neighbor. He bought me a beer in return. Later I commented that he should buy a lottery ticket. He was WTF man. I noticed his seat number won a fan prize pack of dinner for 2 at a restaurant. He gave it to me.
Even if you did consider the ball “hers”, any right to be pissed off goes out the window when the ball gets handed to a kid.
had a ball hit me in the hands (left stitch marks) bounced to the guy in the row in front of me who also gave it to a kid.
kids dad bought him a beer
She definitely didn’t have to be aggressive about it after the fact. The dad was far away from his seat too though. He’s not automatically noble just because kid.
Ultimately my vote is Everyone Sucks Here. ![]()
(But also, I feel bad for everyone whose actual name is Karen.)
dad did nothing wrong, empty stands and he tracked the ball
nothing noble in giving to your own kid
slimey to take it away, especially with no right to the ball other than in her head
I can agree with this, echoing what someone else said too. Once it gets to a kid, however it got there, let it go. Not worth the bad optics over something you can get new at Dick’s.
