With all due respect to the Broncos I’m rooting for the Josh Allen - Lamar Jackson matchup next week then the winner to face Mahomes in the AFC title game. Those games could be epic.
Uh, Joe Burrow? I’d argue he’s actually the best QB in the NFL. He just plays for a team with no depth to their defense so when one or two guys are injured they’re Swiss cheese.
I don’t like the “highest / lowest remaining seed” concept though for rounds 2 & 3.
I like the NCAA basketball tournament. If you are the 12 seed and you defeat the 5 seed, you essentially become the 5 seed. Make it that way for the NFL Playoffs too.
That surprises me. It would not surprise me to learn that tickets are cheaper. Free surprises me, because NFL owners seem like they would not want to sacrifice this revenue.
Yeah, they should have switched the placement of the MIN-LAR and GB-PHI games on the initial layout. But then WAS advancing and playing the Lions would still look weird.
Because in twig-world they should take over as the 3-seed and play PHI next, not DET!
Yeah, that graphic is a contender for awful data visualization. To be fair though, I can’t think of a good way to visualize it given the way the bracket shuffles when a lower seed wins.
I prefer ceding by record. Guaranteeing a playoff spot to division winners is enough imo, a team that wins a bad division at 8-9 doesn’t deserve home field as well. Tiebreakers can go to the division winners.
Am I the only one who thought the games were a little underwhelming this weekend? Last night’s game was good… the doink at the end gave me flashbacks of cody parkey 2018.
Well if they did the NFC like AFC that would be an improvement… organize it so it will make sense if the better seed wins and the odds will be in your favor.
Also, am I the only one who dislikes and is generally confused by “lower / higher seed”?
When the 6th seeded Steelers took on the 3rd seeded Ravens, which team is the “lower” seeded team?
Is it the Steelers because they are the worse team or the Ravens because their seed is a lower number?
I have seen it used both ways, and at a minimum it’s confusing. I think the NFL calls the Steelers the lower seeded team.
