And less on average than place kickers

Same for head-case old WRs who still think they’re the shit when they no longer are.

Only because teams don’t carry 3rd & 4th string place kickers. Sometimes not even a legitimate backup.

#HowToLieWithStatistics

I think the numbers just including the top two running backs on each team are a lot closer than most people realize.

Sure, but that’s because you’re including backups. The #32 highest paid RB is making $2M this season (and that doesn’t even account for the recent Elliot & Cook signings). The #32 hightest paid kicker is making under $1M. And the ceiling salary for elite players isn’t even close.

There’s just way too much RB supply compared to demand

The interesting thing on top RBs is their touches are really high. Sequon ran the ball 295 times last year and had 57 receptions for 352 touches. He had 19 targets not completed so team involved him 371 times. His backup had less than 80. Top WR had 59 touches. Cook had 303 touches to backups 89. Jefferson had 132.

Teams tend to give significant touches to workhorses. They tend to have at least 3x and many times 2.5-3x touches compared to top WR. RBs should all have escalations on touches. If the team doesn’t want to pay and runs fewer plays for that RB, it might not be doing well for team.

I mean, it is a lot easier to hand the ball to someone than it is to get it to them 10-20 yds downfield…

Point is, guy that touches the ball a lot might deserve a little more coin. They aren’t as easily replaceable as GMs make it seem.

Better start paying those Centers then

actually, i feel the O line is usually the key to a good team. As a Jets fan, our best years came with at least least 2 stud O lineman

Not if they played with Brady.

They don’t look too good on Hard Knocks.
Especially against their #1 D line.

Why do the Bucs have a $35M Salary Cap hit due to Brady retiring? Is that deferred from prior seasons or something?

Yes. They intentionally kicked the can down the road.

It is all the 5 year contracts to spread the signing bonus out over 5 years when the player will be there for only two, or something like that. The prorated portion is all charged at retirement year, since those final three years will never be played.
