Coming into last quarter of 7 game series think Kings showed they could play decent D when needed. Series was tough. Warriors did not get a bunch of cheap buckets. Curry is just awesome.
This game went from pretty close to total blowout real quick
Fiddy.
Wow. I miss that thread on the AO about how Curry wonāt make it in the NBA.
Vintage Curry. Iām stunned by all the missed free throws on both sides.
Curry still never considered in top group amongst pundits. He is best offensive player ever. His ability to get shots anywhere coupled with range and passing is best I have ever seen. He may not have shut down D but he has turned into my favorite watch.
Iām guessing it has never happened before that every seed 1-8 has been represented in the 2nd round in the same season.
I think thatās changing with pundits. The talk over the last year since he won the finals MVP and 4th title seems to be trending to him as a top 10 player all time and between him and Magic for best point guard. It will be interesting to see how heās discussed 10 years after he retires. He clearly changed the way the game is played.
Gutsy win for 76ers without Embid. Beard shows he can still fill it up.
Chris Paul injured, I am shocked.
The Knicks actually won a game that they should have!
Knicks-Heat playoff series brings back memories of the Riley/Van Gundy era. I remember hanging out with co-workers at a bar the night they announced who was going to be suspended as a result of an on-court brawl. One guy slammed his beer on the table when he saw that Patrick Ewing was one of the guys - it was a classic case of applying the letter of the law but not the spirit. Ewing left the bench, which resulted in an automatic suspension even though all he did was stand and watch.
For a long time I have thought that there are almost always lane violations on nearly every free throw, but I have noticed that James Harden almost always steps over the line before the ball gets to the basket. I was watching last night and decided to use the frame by frame to see and sure enough, his foot is down across the line nearly every time prior to the ball hitting the rim. Sometimes even before the ball gets to the front of the rim. Yet it is never ever called.
And the rule is actually:
The free throw shooter may not step over the plane of the free throw line until the ball touches the basket ring, backboard or the free throw ends.
Heat got lucky break w 4 days off. MVP lost second in a row. His numbers were there but there are times he does not look like he can run at all. After game 1, as a Celts fan, was a little worried. After watching Embiid next 2 games, not worried at all. He just canāt log the minutes or the miles and Harden canāt do it every night. Brogdon and Derrick White have been terrific.
Lonnie Walker IV? seriously thatās the guy who gets the Warriors? hats off to the Lakers they brought it in the 4th and Klay and Drey were pretty rough down the stretch.
So frustrating to see Curry launching a long 3 down by 1. Plenty of time to find a better shot.
Gave the game away imo.
that shot and Pooleās in game one are a big reason why the warriors are where they are
How many times has Curry buried that shot? and Poole had an open look in G1. Those two shots arenāt the reason they are trailing. They are being out worked by the Lakers, Klay Thompson has been largely MIA this series, Poole is in the dog house with his pouting and Dreymond is turning the ball over too much.
Not saying Curry hasnāt made a bunch of clutch shots in his career, but I found this interesting:
The G7 air ball against Cleveland and the G6 miss v the Raptors are two that I i vividly recall.
Thatās a very interesting table in the article. Some names on there arenāt as clutch as legend would have it. I think I remember reading MJ talk about the shots he missed (which noone remembers him for) and in the end he had just over a 50% success rate which, as it turns out, is high on the list (although it does say the list only goes back to 1997, so not his entire career). Only Lebron tops it.
After Hardenās game winner the other day, it seemed like he must be an amazing clutch shooter but prior to that shot he wasnāt much better than Curry. Good to see some of the less known names on that list like Ginobli and Turkoglu. I watched some of those games and they have my eternal respect.
