Seems like (recall, that I’m not watching) the news networks are still using “precincts,” not realizing that a shitload of mail-in ballots were not cast at “precincts.”
We need (as I saw above for RI), actual numbers of votes so far this year compared with 2016; that ratio is an approximate percentage voted.
We expect more ballots cast this year, so that ratio should be lower.

The NYT website is reporting %age of “estimated votes reported”, which seems a reasonable way to go.
NYT’s win probability for NC has been slowly tilting back in the direction of Biden. Not like GA (currently Biden 62%), but the current marker of Trump 85% to win is lower than earlier when it was >95% Trump.

Can you shed some light on this? Why is this a thing? Is Rhode Island racist? Too long? Too far down in the alphabet? What will you be if not Rhode Island? Why change after nearly 400 years of being Rhode Island?
Seems like it would be a lot of expense to change everything to another name, not to mention super annoying and confusing so I hope there’s a good reason for even considering it!
The official, full name of the state is “Rhode Island and Providence Plantations”. “Plantations” sounds like those bad racisty slavey things down south, even though it has nothing to do with them. (The Providence (Plantations) area was the anti-slavery bit of the state even back when the Newport area was engaging in the triangle trade, for cripes sake.) So some people think we should drop those last three words. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I can’t manage to be too upset about dropping a part of the name that barely ever gets used, but it just seems unnecessary and based on false understanding of words.

So it would just be Rhode Island without the “and Providence Plantations”. That’s not too big a deal then I guess, but yeah sounds kind of dumb.
Not like I’d have to update all of my spreadsheets with a new state postal abbreviation or anything though and you wouldn’t even need new license plates. Maybe a few new signs & letterheads but that’s about it.
